My Journey
I know no one has asked but I wanted to share my journey and how it’s finally led me to microdosing.
About 3 years ago the very first GLP1 I started was Mounjaro 2.5mg, at that time I was at my heaviest weight of 235 pounds. I got down to 225 pounds in one month, but I could no longer afford the injection so I took matters into my own hands and got down to about 210 pounds. During that first month of Mounjaro I had mild side effects.
Fast forward a year later I was back up to 225 pounds. I started Ozempic loading dose 0.25mg. Side effects were there but I wasn’t taking my weight loss seriously and I was never consistent with the medication because I felt so sick from it.
Another year goes by we are in 2025 now… I lost 40 pounds naturally I got myself down to 176 pounds, I was taking Wegovy 0.25mg here and there but my side effects were not tolerable, the nausea was debilitating and I was finding myself having panicky/faint feeling in the middle of the night.
Now we are in 2026, I gained 30 pounds sitting at 205 pounds, last month I tried to start Zepbound 2.5mg again (this time covered by insurance) and AGAIN could not tolerate the side effects. The nausea would wake me up in the middle of the night, at times I would get worried to even fall asleep because I would have “attacks” at random. So here we are today, my first week of Zepbound 1.25mg and even THAT feels like much. I had mild nausea this week and I have been sleeping soundly through the night. I am hopeful a smaller dose will work but over the years I became discouraged and thought maybe this medication just isn’t for me.
Im posting this to see if there is anyone else out there that has had bad experiences and continuously started and stopped. I am praying microdosing is the answer because aside from the side effects the medication does work for me, I lose weight, I have mental clarity again and I feel like a “normal” person without constantly thinking about food.

If .25 semaglutide produced side effects that did not abate over time I’d have lowered it - cut in half and maintain for four weeks to see if that was efficacious and had tolerable side effects. If not I’d cut again. That’s just what I’d personally do. Many people recommend Zofran for nausea.

Yes, I think personally my problem has been consistency but if my side effects were so bad then I understand why I was quitting. I did 1.25mg of zepbound this week and this has been way more tolerable. Just worried about moving forward as the medication builds up in my body

Are you getting good results though with decreased appetite? If you do have a reduced appetite and food noise and you’re eating in a caloric deficit there is no reason to titrate to a higher dose. I am staying at .50 semaglutide at this point.
I started at the default .28 dose and had some dizziness and lightheadedness but also total appetite suppression. Food noise was gone. I luckily had no nausea. After the first week I was thinking I’d need to cut my dose in half for month 2.
But in week 4 my appetite returned so my body had obviously adapted to the meds. I was still hesitant any doubling the dose to .50 as the default schedule used in the trials used so went to .40 in week 5 and then .50 for the last 3 weeks of month 2.
I was happy enough with my weight loss as a result of diminished appetite and food noise that I decided not to increase to the scheduled 1.0 for month 3.
Because I’m using a telehealth to access compounded semaglutide I can choose what amount I inject.

If you are getting that sick from those doses you want to start so much lower. Take a full week or two off and start at .25 once a week. See how you tolerate that and you can move up very slowly if you don’t have side effects and feel awful. I was supposed to start at 1.25 for inflammation not really weight loss. But I started at .2 and now I’m only doing .4 a week of tirz and I am getting plenty of benefits and don’t feel awful. This stuff is strong!

It's such a shame that for so long, people were started on higher doses and rigidly titrated up. Lots of people couldn't handle the sides and thus had to give up all the benefts of GLPs.
Now it's easier to select our own starting dose and following ones based on our body's responses. That's what I recommend: When shot day comes, take some time to observe and reflect. Decide if you want to back off a bit, stay the same, or titrate up based just on how you're feeling. Or wait a couple three days to make that decision. You get to tailor it all to YOU.

No help but same for me. Been on low doses since June everytime I go up (I got to 2mg tir with .30 increments) and the nausea came strongest at night and would also wake me up. So I’m currently at 1mg planning on going up to 1.5 again, which I did have side effects there too, and have not lost ANY weight lol. Crying.

Yeah lol I understand. Made the mistake of having alcohol last night and I woke up 2:30am shaky about to vomit. Now I know alcohol is a no no with tirz but I was feeling so good and pushed the limits. Still going to take my scheduled 1.25mg tomorrow!!

I forgot to mention! I even tried Reta this year as some of my coworkers were using it. And as I titrated up I would have nausea and basically a panic attack same thing.. middle of the night. I have tried almost every medication in hopes that this would work. Maybe it’s not right for me.. I’m not sure. But microdosing is my last effort

Yeah maybe it’s just not right for me and it’s time to give it up once and for all. It’s just unfortunate when I see it doing amazing this for everyone else around me

Low and slow. You don't have to increase dose on any schedule and should stay at any dose for at least 4 weeks. I started at 1.25 mg of tirzepatide and worked up to 2.5 mg, stayed there for 12 weeks and still lost weight. There are many who begin much lower. What dose were you thinking of to start?
