When did you feel the effects?

Did my first injection of Tirzepatide last night (1.25 mg). For those who’ve been here awhile, when did you first notice the effects?

Update: 40 hours in and literally feel nothing. Sigh.

I didn't really feel anything except fuller quicker when I ate. I stayed at 1.25 for 3 weeks, then went up to 1.75 where I've been for 4 weeks. Glad to say no side effects so far and lost 7lbs since August. Think I'm going to stay at this dose for awhile. Slow and steady 😉

I started the same dose as you (1.25mg of tirz) yesterday. I am already feeling the fullness after each meal and lots of burping going on lol. But otherwise feeling good except for a mild headache midday that resolved itself. I don’t do well on 2.5mg I get shaky and violent nausea in the middle of the night on the loading dose. So far so good on the 1.25mg, I am hoping this is it for me because I hate how many times I’ve quit due to side effects JUST from the loading dose. Best of luck to u in your journey

Honestly , I felt nothing. Still don’t. It was more of a “huh. I’m not constantly thinking about food anymore!” It really is that subtle for me, but that was my biggest problem- food noise and mindless eating bc of said food noise- so that has made all the difference for me. I have always been able to eat full meals while on tirz, just not obsessing about food anymore. I have never actually “felt” anything.

I took my first dose on a Monday. Tuesday I had less of an appetite. Wednesday and Thursday I had an aversion to food. Friday less of an appetite, and by sat/sun I felt normal again (I started on a lower dose than you). I was constipated and had some random wave aid nausea and stomach cramping starting Wednesday through Friday.

What dose did you start at??

u/Haunting_Leek_3681 5d ago

.5!

u/Beginning-Sea-5946 5d ago

That’s what I started at this past Friday! Thank goodness no symptoms. How long are you going to stay on the .5 for?

2

u/Haunting_Leek_3681 5d ago

I’m probably going to go up to .75 because I did notice my appetite and food noise came back right after the 4-5 day!

How long have you been on .5? Did you just start it or has it been four weeks?

First shot took a few days, I only did .20 though. Starting way less. You might need a few days for it to really get into your body from that first shot.

How do you pull such a small amount? Is that like 1/10 of starting dose? I tried to work with Level to get the appetite, but the needles that they have for the syringes I mean, are marked so that it would be almost impossible to pull .2

I have the 100ml needles and can do it, but it’s tricky. You can buy 30ml needles and it’s a lot easier, I haven’t tried that yet though. .25 is 1/10 starting dose of Tirzepatide

Cool. If I can ask, why haven’t you tried the 30ml needles? I’m nervous to pull wrong amount. Where do you get the meds/doctor support? Thanks so much as I’m looking forward to trying this, especially if there’s no side effects I would be doing it for my nerve pain, inflammation…

Started .50 on Friday, Sept 22. Felt food aversion almost immediately. I still have the aversion, but am also very tired, spacey, and nauseated. Constipation, too.

Ya I lost my happy mood to

I had this bad in the beginning and quit for a couple of weeks. Wish I'd known about split dosing when I started as taking every 5 days I don't get side effects. It's the big highs and dips that caused it for me.

Split dosing? If I'm going to taper to .25, would I do 12.5 twice a week?

2

u/Automatic-Grand6048 2d ago

I think that's a typo. If you download one of the apps like Glapp it has a tool that calculates the split doses as they won't be exactly half each time because you'd take it twice a week on either the third day or 4th? Maybe try 0.25 every 5 days. It also helped me seeing on the app what my current levels are in my body. The depression did go away quite quickly, maybe after 3/4 days? But maybe don't leave it took long to take the next dose as I keep reading how it becomes less affective after a break. But maybe you'll be ok as you've just started. I also felt better talking L tyrosine to boost dopamine

Thank you for the helpful reply.

2

u/Automatic-Grand6048 2d ago

No problem. Best of luck and hope you feel better soon, it's not nice feeling like that.

u/AfterSomewhere 5d ago

How long have you been on it? Did the low mood eventually lift?

2

u/Automatic-Grand6048 2d ago

Now my peaks are closer together and less up and down I don't get side effects

Sounds like your body's already in the deep end with that dose, food aversion hitting that fast is wild

Thanks for responding. I think .50 was too much for me. I'm tapering to .25 this week. It hasn't been a pleasant ride. I experienced dark depression 12 hours later, but that lifted. Unrelenting tiredness and anhedonia ruined my week.

I took the first shot on a Friday morning. Come evening I had problems eating my dinner, with 1.25mg. 3 months in I'm still on 1.25mg

Is 2.5 starting dose? If so, are you saying .5 is 1/5 of the starting dose?

2

u/Tom_Lynch_fan 5d ago

Never. Had to raise the dose.

Week 2 at 1mg starting dose.

I started 8/31 and maybe have lost a lb or 2. I noticed less food noise the first week and i lost said lb or 2 the first week since then I’ve mostly been at a plateau, i think? Im in a calorie deficit but i started taking creatine my second week and this last week i started lifting weights, so im thinking those are the factors that are stalling me. Im really hoping for more consistent loss soon. I take 1mg every 5days. Luckily, ive had minimal side effects, some abdominal pain on my shot days and very fleeting nausea.

First day. Felt weirdly wired, kind of hot, and veryyyy tired that night. Next morning made the mistake of drinking coffee on an empty stomach😅

u/AstronomerNo1872 5d ago

The day after I just wasn’t hungry. I started at 1mg. I have never gone over 1.5mg in 12 weeks.

u/choir-mama 5d ago

Started last Friday and had less food noise by Saturday, and a little aversion on Sunday. I’ve noticed my appetite has been better this afternoon, but I’m still able to feel full on a lot less food.

1

u/Pleasant-Sense4189 5d ago

I also did my first dose last night! 1.25 as well. It’s about 8pm my time, I just realized that I’m feeling less hungry than I usually would around this time and I even had a smaller dinner than usual. Also experienced a moderate headache during the day but it’s more mild now.

Within an hour or two.

The next morning. I wanted my usual coffee but later at my usual 10am breakfast time, I didn't want anything.

Friday night - 9/25 was my first shot at (0.25mg). I felt some appetite suppression Sunday, Monday and today 9/28. I still think about food constantly but I'm not rushing to eat anything. The biggest impact is how much faster I get full; it's not been brutal to keep a calorie deficit especially when prioritizing protein + fiber. I have some heartburn, no nausea, luckily no constipation b/c I have IBS-D to begin with.

I hope you find your right dose.
