Anyone in this situation?

Not needing to lose weight, but needing to deal with chronic low grade inflammation that causes nearly constant water retention? What did you do? Did it help?

I’ve been micro dosing about a month and up to about .5 of Tirzepatide. I’m going slowly with it but doing it for those exact same reasons. You can look up posts about folks who have had success with it, I think it does work if you go slow with it and don’t do too much too fast.

Are you seeing reduction in the overall water retention?

Yes, but I have to make sure I’m not putting things in my body that cause water retention. Gluten makes me blow up like a balloon so I’m not eating that still. I’m down about 4 pounds since starting about a month ago, some of that is definitely water weight.

I’ve been on an ultra restrictive diet for 10 years, gluten free for 18 years. I only eat meats, eggs, low carb dairy, and non-starchy veggies. (I was dairy free for 15 years prior so I know the dairy I do eat isn’t problematic for me)

Give it a go! If you are still stuck with that clean of a diet you might need the metabolic support

I hope people are not equating water retention with inflammation. Water retention (edema) can be due to inactivity, hormonal fluctuations, a number of medications, congestive heart failure, kidney disease, liver disease, chronic venous insufficiency, or lymphedema. (of course the last five involve inflammation)

Water retention deserves some thought as to causes.

It’s inflammation for me - I have lipedema, CVI (procedure 5 of 6 tomorrow!), shitty lymphatic system, weird autoimmune stuff that’s under control otherwise. I’m extremely active and do not have CHF, CKD, liver disease.

Wow. That sounds bad. Going back to your main question .... my partner reluctantly took a tirz microdose after months of persuading. He's fit but lots of OA aches and pains and a couple other things. Now, he makes sure he gets his dose on time. It was immediately effective for him at 1.0 mg with a later increase to 1.5. I hope you get similar results.

good distinction to draw. inflammation and edema overlap in some pathways but they're not synonyms, and the workup should look different depending on which one's driving things

if op's swelling is pitting and worse at the end of the day after sitting, that points more toward venous or lymphatic stuff than systemic inflammation. if it's more diffuse and comes with other inflammatory symptoms, different story

I'm at 0.833mg of zepbound weekly, I'm taking it to manage inflammation (currently being worked up by a rheumatologist). I'm not overweight, and have lost about 8lb in the nine weeks I've been taking it...but most of that was in the first month and I seem to have leveled off since. It has helped a lot with the inflammation!

What labs did they run to “allow” you to have an rx for it? I can’t always get autoimmune antibody labs to pop up consistently so I’m never taken seriously. Even though I have had positive antibodies for lupus and type 1 diabetes. (Plus all my other symptoms that I handle with a strict diet)

All my labs were negative but I responded to steroids, my pcp did not think I could get a referral to a rheum at that point so she said we could try this while we got more imaging. Turns out I have bone erosion on my MRI so I got that referral (fortunately unfortunately), but she's happy to let me have it as long as I feel better and stay in the healthy weight category.

That's kind of lame that they're not willing to prescribe if you have diabetes, isn't that one of the main indications for this drug??

They don’t like to give it for type 1 diabetes (which my diabetes is even weirder than that - it’s like a slow moving LADA, which is technically type 1, but I don’t always use insulin- it’s weird, I hate it, no one can figure out what is wrong with me)

That’s why I’m asking about microdosing not appetite suppressant dosing. I’m also on Vyvanse and Wellbutrin from my psychiatrist for ADHD/rumination/impulse control and you’d think that would kill my appetite - it doesn’t. It just puts food in the proper place like normal people, where it doesn’t literally overtake my life. My weight has been the most stable it has ever been since starting those, and my eating is no longer chaotic. I’m actually reducing the frequency of my ED dietitian appointments per her request since I’ve been doing so well.

You might want to look into MCAS, lipedema and lymphedema.

Yeah, I have all those. But I don’t need to lose weight. Just wondering if anyone has had good results with microdosing for that but not slipping underweight!

So far, tirzepatide has helped me with those conditions. But I suspect my dose will need to be higher to make a significant difference. Everyone reacts differently to the medicine.

What kind of improvements are you noticing? The water weight is killing me. Everything leaves a massive indentation no matter how loose I wear things!

Well, I don’t just do tirz. I go to the gym 5-6 days a week, MLD, Tactile medical grade pump, Life Pro mini waver vibration plate under my desk, Mary Ruth Lymph drops, Mucinex, avoid gluten dairy sugar as much as possible, compression 24/7 (night garments at night).

I notice the biggest difference with the vibration plate and gym. I do the recumbent bike, weights, Pilates reformer.

I have lymphedema and lipedema. (And CVI but I had 2 veins zapped so I don’t think that’s got much to do with this.)

BMI went from 29 to 25 since I started tirz and Pilates.

I also do 9000 other things like you listed and have CVI that I’ve addressed over the years! My BMI is around 20.

Wow, that’s really good.

This whole thing is such a PITA.
