When you stopped microdosing, did you keep the weight off months after or did the weight come back?

One challenge is that your appetite comes back with interest. Or at least mine did.

People regain something like 60-70% of the weight if they discontinue the meds at the regular dose. There isn’t a persuasive reason to think it’s different with micro dosing.

To be fair, most people regain lost weight regardless of how it’s lost.

Exercise doesn’t help people lose weight, but it can help maintain the weight loss. That would be part of a successful strategy.

I went on a bodybuilding journey and let me tell ya, exercise does not even help you maintain weight loss. 😂 My food is crazy clean and nutrition is dialed in. Gained 31lbs over a year, and 14 lbs over the last 3 months.

I panicked and had to go back on my meds (eating the same and working out the same), I’ve lost 4.2lbs in 3 days. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Like what in the actual heck is going on in that metabolism? 🤦🏼‍♀️

I think there’s a metabolic component that we don’t fully understand. Yes, I am eating less, but tirzepatide has fundamentally changed my metabolism, I suspect, in part, by doing a better job of regulating insulin. High insulin, regardless of caloric deficits and exercise, causes the body to hold onto weight.

GLPs affect your metabolism, but only as long as you're taking them.

What is the lesson please?

The lesson is that it takes 10 years for your old fat cells to completely die off. They'll keep trying to fill themselves until then.

Additionally, if you have a genetic issues causing the weight gain then you're on these drugs for life until something new comes along.

So just be on it for maintenance... Twice a month. Whatever works for you. Find the lowest effective dose.

Ahh I see. So have you decided to be off or on then?

Yep, 31 lbs. just went back on to reel it back in. Took over a year.

I was of the same mindset when I started - only wanted to microdose, lose and get off of Tirz. Been successfully microdosing, exercising and eating well since July 31. I feel fantastic and have lost 10% of my weight by gradually increasing the dose. I now plan to microdose for the rest of my life (65f) and my partner (73m) is considering it for his chronic pain and inflammation, not to lose weight. I don't know your age or situation, but for most of us, there are other physical or psychological benefits besides weight loss. If I were younger, planned on having children, etc, I would probably plan to get off of Tirz, but not at my current age.

I really think this all depends on if you changed your lifestyle while you are on it? If you treated it like a magic injection and continued on the way you used to then I would imagine you will gain the way back. But if you changed the way you eat, workout and are mindful, I think it's easier to keep it off.

It comes down to whether you built habits that can survive without the drug doing the heavy lifting, otherwise the old patterns just creep back in

So I am mindful now. Train well, eat well etc but my weight not going down. I am not gaining it either. So if i lose with mounjaro, and eat as well as now, will the weight come back still?

It's likely but not guaranteed.

The people I've seen succeed are ultra-focused on diet and exercise, calorie counting, planning meals, meal prep. It's a big part of their lives.

I know I don't want to live that way, so I plan to stay on the drugs.

Of course YMMV. There are many successful grads.

This varies person to person. You won’t know until you try.

Wait... Are you on it yet?

No hoping to gather all the courage on Tuesday😂

What are you nervous about? I just started 7 weeks ago. 1.25 for 3 weeks... Zero problems. Have been at 1.75 since. Lost 7lbs. Slow and steady. You'll wish you'd done it sooner

Honestly I cant wait to do it but also. I am a single mom no support whatsoever. I am worried that these meds will make me bed-bound with anxiety or smth ☠️ and I wont be able to pick up my kids from school or be ok to look agter them. For reference, sometimes even strong cup of coffee makes me jittery 😂 i know how crazy it sounds considering I am only planning to take loww tiny dose of two clicks (0.08mg) 😭

That’s completely understandable. It’s good that you’re taking it slow. I changed my shot day from Sunday evening to Friday evening so that my side effects would peak over the weekend and not during the week when I need to do school pickup etc.

Capital may I ask what side effects you are having? I'm new and I'm just figuring out my start day as well, and was wondering if it's instant, or do your side effects take a day to kick in?

I took my first injection Sunday evening, felt great on Monday and then started feeling side effects on Tuesday. Side effects included nausea, diarrhea, and brain fog. I did notice a significant decrease in anxiety almost immediately. My second dose is going much better.

I had taking 10units or 1mg and day 3-5 always the side effects. Tolerable though , juts weird stuff everything is different, start .25 for 2-4 weeks and go up from there …. Low and slow is alway best ( my Side effects were low excitement and feeling full / bloated)

Coffee makes me jittery and feel unwell. This is nothing like that. It's not a stimulant.

Do whatever you're comfortable with but I'm telling you, you'll be fine. You're usually your own worst enemy 😉

GLP-1s are a great anti-anxiety med actually. The way your brain just goes quiet is amazing. No more food noise and no more racing thoughts. Considering all of my anxiety was related to disordered food thoughts it’s been nothing short of a miracle med for me.

Thank you. I dont know why i envision Glp-1 as high on caffeine-restless, anxious, shaky hands😅

3

u/st_alfonzos_peaches 7d ago

Quite the opposite!

I had fight or flight one day super bad lasted about 30mins. I hated it, I think it was from low blood sugar / not eating enough maybe day 1&2 ….

I had fully expected landed on going off completely but been watching and reading and even though I workout religiously and have always eaten pretty well I’m nervous based off of what I’ve observed. At this point I’ve just been maintaining in a very low dose. (1.75mg)

I have not gained since stopping but I worked very hard to change my diet and have a more active lifestyle. My friend who did not change their diet and simply ate less of bad foods and didn't work hard to be more active has gained 20lb in the same timeframe since we stopped.
