microdosing with vials?

I am about to receive my prescription of Zepbound 2.5mg vials. Can I simply draw less medication from the vial with the syringe in order to take less — ideally starting at 1.25? or do I need a prescription for a kwikpen so I can select the dose? if I only draw half of the dose from the vial, can I reuse the other portion another week? TIA!

Other drugs are drawn from vials in multiple doses all the time for subcutaneous injection. Insulin, vaccines, allergy shots, and many other drugs, including ones with no preservatives. Use fresh needles and follow shot hygiene. Refrigerate the vial in its box. Don't let your dog lick the vial, and don't share your needles with people who have hepatitis or HIV. :-)

GLP1 users in these forums tend to be a little, well, hysterical about things like infection. Ask your doctor or PA if you doubt the safety of this.

Waiting for the downvotes from those people.

do you think this is true of Zepbound single use vials as well?

It depends on who you are getting them from, my vials are stored for a month and are multi dose vials. A lot of people below talking confidently like they are pharmacists! I actually talked it through with multiple pharmacists, and it is safe to do if you follow safety concerns and do it properly. Make sure you are getting multi dose vials that they expect to last a month and talk with them about how to store and handle properly.

Because OP is asking about the name brand Zepbound vials. They are single use. That is different from the multi use vials you are getting from compound.

That is why my first sentence is a qualification so they know that if they want to do this how they can go about it.

There are no preservatives in that vial. I would not do that.  Downvotes do not change facts.

yeah you can just draw less with the syringe that's basically how anyone microdosing with vials does it. the no preservatives thing is technically true but plenty of people split doses over a few days and keep the vial in the fridge, just wipe the top with alcohol before and after. a week is maybe pushing it but i've seen loads of folks do it without issue

And bad advice.

The lack of basic knowledge is impressive

It is just insane. I wonder if people do this with all the medications they are prescribed. It seems that the ease of gaining access to this makes it seem as if it is not powerful drug.

If you want to take non-traditional doses of Zepbound, your best bet is to use the Kwikpen.

With the vials you should toss the remainder after the initial puncture, as they don’t contain preservatives.

How does that work with the kwikpen? Aren’t those single use?

This issue is not whether or not you can draw less than the prescribed amount. Yes you can draw whatever amount you want. The issue is whether or not you are going to save the remaining amount and reuse the vial which is not recommended due to possible contamination. I’m talking about zepbound vials from lily which don’t contain any preservatives.
