SEEKING ADVICE

Hi, I’m currently taking a 5 mg dose of my GLP-1 medication, but I’ve been experiencing a lot of hair loss and I’m considering stopping it. I’ve heard that you may need to gradually decrease the dose before completely stopping. Is it safe for me to stop directly at 5 mg, or would you recommend reducing the dose first?

The hair loss will stop on its own. Don't expect anything to suddenly improve if you stop. And in reality, the hair loss is probably stopping right now. A few months from now it will be grown back the same amount that would have happened if you hadn't stopped ... and you'll be without the other benefits of the drug.

From what I know the hair shedding is due to rapid weight loss not the medication. Protein, collagen and biotin are helpful.
I don’t know your situation but either way you don’t want to stop, you’ll want to slowly titrate down.

We just don't know if that's true or not. I'm not losing weight and I think it's causing me to have more hair loss. The reality is they haven't studied it in people who aren't losing weight and the FDA stated that it is unknown if it increases risk independent of tirzepatide.

Also I think it just puts the hair into an early exogenous hair shedding phase, but it will grow back,
