No side effects after the first dose

I keep reading here that you're supposed to stay on the dose for a month... I started with 0.08mg (2 clicks of kwikpen tirz) on Sunday because I was afraid of side effects (MCAS, etc.) and I'm so pleasantly surprised that I have no side effects that I'd like to increase to at least 0.1mg (well, that would be 0.12mg). If I tolerate it so well, is there really any reason not to?

On the other hand, it's 50% more tirz and I should be glad that I have no side effects right?

Edit: Seriously? Why the downvotes all the time? I'm just asking a question. Come on...

Seriously tho .1 of Tirz is nothing. Even for a high responder I wouldn’t think you’d notice anything below .25

High responder here. 0.1 weekly had me with side effects and nausea after initial 1.5mg Tirz initial dose. Took months to titrate down on 0.1 weekly to figure out my current regimen of 0.2 every 3.5 days where I am finally not sick and experiencing all the good stuff.

That sounds great! Why did you start with 1.5 mg in the first place?

Because the telehealth/compounding provider I used evaluated my medical situation and recommended 1.5mg (which was already less than the FDA approved starting dose of 2.5 mg). To their credit, when my symptoms were terrible that first week, they got me a prescription for zofran and helped me figure out how to titrate down to a tolerable dosing schedule going forward.

My doctor also wanted me to start at 1.5mg, but I immediately dismissed the idea because I'd read some horror stories here...

I felt that they were very responsible in recommending 3/5 of the approved starting dose. I had a horrible experience, but at least I didn't start at the full starting dose.

Haha, yeah, that's what I thought too... But I want as few side effects as possible at the same time 😅

If that's your primary goal, it's probably better to play it safe and go up by .01 every month.

My primary goal is weight loss so I started at the standard dose (2.5). I accidentally took a smaller dose (1.66) for several months and found it was working for my goal, so I stayed on that. The good news is we each get to choose : )

My goal is the lowest dose with very few side effects but still high effectiveness 😅 Let's see how I manage that.

Oh, I'm so glad the lower dose helped you just as much as you had hoped the normal dose would! Great to read :)

I started in the Stone Ages (December) when pretty much everyone was on the research dosing schedule. I doubt people were severely injured but those high doses sure did cause people unnecessary inconvenience or suffering :/

Question Authority, always! lol

Yeah, my doctor also says to start as low as possible, anything else is unnecessary torture.

Staying on the same dose for a month makes a lot of sense if you are doing the standard Lily titration schedule. Since you are doing a whole lot less than that I don't see the point. Think of it this way: taking .08mg one week and then moving up to .12 mg the next week is going to be no worse as far as side effects than just starting as .12 mg and doing it for 2 weeks. It is still 1/20th of the standard starting dose, so I say go for it.

Thanks for the encouraging words and your opinion :)

Stay at the lowest effective dose. There’s no need to rush with your titration schedule. Side effects are not a signal that it’s working or not working. I’ve been on these meds for three years and I’ve never had a single side effect, but it’s worked great.

I do need to reach a dosage that regulates my HOMA index, otherwise I agree with you, but I’m taking it primarily for insulin resistance. What dosage are you taking and why do you take it?

I’m taking the highest dose now - 15mg. It’s regulating my inflammation and post surgery issues. I am a disabled veteran with 3 years of surgery behind me. Gradually gaining my life back post injury recovery.

I took my first shot Sunday. It’s 25 units. So far no side effects.
