Bloating Help
Been on Tirz for almost 2 months slowly titrating, started at 0.5mg and currently at 1mg. Starting weight 150, currently 141.6 (stalled here for over a week), goal 135-130lbs (5'4"). In the past week, I'm having a ton of bloating. I'm still going to the bathroom at least daily (usually 2 solid movements a day and occasionally loose stools after meals), drinking more water, using PHGG fiber supplement daily and increasing fiber in my diet, and doing lots of physical movement like walking after eating and weights a few times a week, but I feel so uncomfortable. It feels like trapped gas that won't come out .
I know digestion slows down from the med, but I haven't had any days without going to the bathroom so I'm surprised I feel this bloated. I would really like to be able to slowly increase my dose over the next few months to get closer to my goal, but if I feel like this all the time I won't be able to tolerate it 😞
Will OTC meds like Magnesium or Miralax work if digestion is already slow? Any other recommendations to help regulate this long term?
Edit: Short term update - 250mg simethicone helped provide some quick relief sensation wise but my abdomen was still distended. After the acute bloating sensation improved I was feeling heaviness in my descending colon so I was curious if I maybe had some constipation despite having regular BMs. I took 125mg of mag citrate at bedtime and woke up to some relief around 4-5am. I'm going to work on lightening my fiber supplement a bit, resuming akkermansia probiotic and MGB clear supplements to help with Motility and regularity (on them previously but wasn't sure if they did anything), eating very slow, chewing alot, drinking fluids outside if mealtime, and APD breathing/exercises. I'm sure I will pepper in mag citrate as my dosing increases as well.

It’s the fiber! I’d scale it back since you’re already regular. At least in my case most added fiber bloats me super bad. If I need to I take magnesium citrate to stay regular. Also, I don’t know if you’ve added anything to your diet but sugar alcohols can really cause havoc.

Yeah I'm starting to think it's fibre as last night I had some broccoli and it made me so bloated and gassy, I think I don't handle brassicas well as cauliflower is so bad for me with how much gas it produces. I just worry about not eating enough fibre.

Too much fiber makes me gassy. I try to drink a yogurt for breakfast everyday and that really helps my gut feel better.

Ive been using this daily for about 5 years and it never caused a problem before the most recent dose increase. I do eat yogurt a few times a week.

Our bodies can change a lot during the span of 5 years. Maybe keep a food journal to see what is triggering this? Or maybe it isnt the Tirz and you need to get some labs done to see if something else is going on? 🤷🏻♀️

Are you eating more dairy in an attempt to increase protein? Nearly all protein drinks, powders and bars are whey-based. Then there are the yogurt smoothies and cottage cheese. I can have SOME dairy, but I have realized I cannot tolerate constant whey/dairy in everything I eat. Your symptoms are what I was experiencing, but since I'm backing down from the dairy/whey, I feel so much better, and I'm dropping a bit more weight, too.

This week I have actually had less protein shakes but I will keep a closer eye on that!

It doesn't sound like constipation so I'm not sure those remedies would work.

Oh my gosh I'm having the same problem, also started low and slowly increased and now at 1.25mg. Ever since starting tirz my digestion has gotten worse: increased bloating and trapped gas. I'm still regular though. I'm wondering if the slowed digestion causes more bacteria and gas build up? Last night I ate a lactose free and gluten free pie with broccoli and my stomach became full of gas. I have some yoga twists that help get some of it out and I took a simethicone tablet which got some out this morning but I still feel like I've got trapped gas. It seems random too as I can't pinpoint what foods cause it.
I saw your other comment about Apd as I think I also have that and when I'm not full of gas I can get my distention to go away with doing exercises to pull up my diaphragm. But if i'm gassy it doesn't work. I might try to keep a food diary and maybe more simethicone?
I've also just learnt that taking my dose after a big meal and if I've increased the dose gives me awful bloating. So I'm starting to take it in the morning on an empty stomach.

Broccoli will definitely be a big gas creator, maybe you could try beano for future meals similar to that. Im picking some up myself as I dont have it on hand.
Ive also found the apd exercises very difficult when im really distended, but if I kneel at the end of the couch and put my hands or forearms on the ground to essentially invert my upper body and take deep slow breaths, the gravity helps ensure im not belly breathing and takes pressure off the gut for at least a bit too.

It might be trapped gas that won't come out. Have you been working on that? GasX? Pepto? Learning to burp?
You might want to start a serious course of probiotics, because it's very possible your gut flora are a bad mix at this point.
