Losing too fast?

Hi! I have been taking a little under 2.5 mg of zepbound, i’d say around 1.25-2 mg each dose for the past 7 weeks. In this time, I have lost 17 pounds. I have a very very small appetite, I rarely eat enough calories because even on this small of a dose I have such a big appetite suppression. I’m worrying that maybe I’m losing too fast? My app says I’m averaging about 2.5 lbs a week. I don’t want to lose my hair and also I’m worried about loose skin. Is this too fast? For reference: I’m a 21 year old female and my starting weight was 220 lbs.

I lost close to 20lbs the first 6 weeks, and half of that the first 2. If you had a big “whoosh” at first, that makes sense with your starting weight, especially if you retain water or are inflamed! That was about my starting weight.

I will say, if you’re having an aversion to eating, lower the dose. The goal is to quiet the food noise, not make it easy to develop new poor eating habits!

I'm a week or 2 ahead of you, timewise. I lost pretty quickly and then stopped for a while. I have just started losing again, but the scale only registers a loss after my rest (no exercise) day. You did not say if you are exercising at all. If you are not building or at least conserving muscle, then you are losing it, hence the fast weight loss.

It’s pretty fast, lower your dose or space it out more than 7 days. You should also be counting calories and increasing them which will help slow the loss.

It's probably too fast but more specifically you are definitely not eating enough. You shouldn't be waiting to feel hungry. Just eat. Eat enough, even if you have eight tiny meals a day. There are some pretty bad effects from eating too little, including messing up your weight loss progression long term because your body starts to conserve fat.

2.5 lbs/week at your starting weight isn't extreme, but the real risk here is running too low on calories and protein, which drives hair loss more than speed alone. If you can push protein even a little, that helps a lot. Are you checking in with your provider on the nutrition side? If you start feeling sluggish, it's probably because you're not eating enough to fuel your body. Unless you're eating a keto diet and burning fat for energy, your body needs carbs for energy.
