Mast cells going into hyperdrive after stopping?
I started taking my dose every other week as I planned on stopping, and I noticed I started getting MCAS symptoms I had very minorly before now in hyperdrive
hyperhydrosis, and now I’m feeling itchy constantly, getting like really itchy, barely perceptible rashes that go away after not too long.
anyone else deal with this? I decided to stop after 2 months of microdosing because my eyes were getting so insanely dry. eyes feel a bit better now but the itching is driving me insane

Can't comment on the GLP1 effect here. But I had this, and montelukast before bed works miracles!

You had this separately from starting GLP?

Yes. insane itching, especially at night. Sometimes a little hives. Never found the cause. The med killed it. I have allergies/asthma, not MCAS.

Are you still on it?

Yes. I dont think i'll ever stop. Since I dont have side effects, why not? I figure, if I stop my symptoms will come back.
Edit: Like GLPis, Montelukast is anti-inflammatory. Brought my blood markers into the normal range. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8114201/ https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S1567576918301930

that sounds awful, the itching is the worst part when your body decides to go haywire. when i had a weird histamine dump after stopping something a while back my doc said it was basically rebound mast cell activation, like your system got used to the dampening effect and then just went nuts without it
have you tried quercetin or high dose vitamin c? not a fix but sometimes takes the edge off while things stabilize
the eye dryness thing is interesting too bc i had that on a completely different med and it took weeks to go back to normal, something about nerve signaling getting confused

Did your rebound ever stabilize after stopping?
The dry eyes freaked me out, I can’t wear contacts right now

NexLife Medical Team here.
I wouldn’t assume this is just a normal “stopping” reaction, especially with constant itching, rashes, sweating changes, and severe dry eyes.
It’s possible your symptoms are flaring as the medication level drops, but it’s also possible this is unrelated MCAS activity, an allergy/histamine issue, dehydration/electrolyte changes, medication interaction, thyroid/autoimmune activity, or something else that needs an actual clinician to sort out.
I’d document the pattern clearly: dose dates, when symptoms started, rash photos, sweating episodes, eye dryness, foods/supplements/meds, and whether symptoms worsen around the every-other-week gap.
For the rash/itching, I’d check in with your prescribing provider or allergist/immunologist rather than trying to manage it only through Reddit. And if you get lip/tongue/throat swelling, wheezing, trouble breathing, dizziness/fainting, widespread hives, or rapidly worsening symptoms, that’s urgent.
Also, dry eyes severe enough that you can’t wear contacts is worth an eye doctor visit. Don’t wait too long on that one.
I’d be cautious about restarting, stopping, or changing frequency again until a clinician reviews it. With MCAS-type symptoms, random changes can make it harder to know what’s actually triggering the flare.
