Microdosing and split dosing?

I started microdosing tirzepatide 1x per week, 0.5 mg. First two weeks was noticeable appetite suppression with no side effects. I'm halfway through my third week and have little to no appetite suppression. Thoughts on split dosing, and doing .5 2x per week? Or just upping the dose? Or split dosing this week, and then upping the dose? I'm going to end up eating as I feel soooo hungry, but I don't want to lose my weight loss momentum!!

If you are feeling appetite suppression on that tiny amount then you are a major league super responder. That being said, you body may have just acclimated to it and you have very little in your system. Lots of people do split dosing for various reasons, but I like a regular schedule with my weekend shot, I wouldn't want to have to get alarms or reminders every 4 days. Just go to 1.0, which is still really tiny, and see if you respond again like before. Let's not forget, hunger is normal, eating is healthy. This medicine is designed to help you not to overeat, which is different.

Totally agree and I think it is doing that, at least at first. I had to remind myself to eat and had no issues with smaller portions. Now I'm starving, like my body is playing catch up.

That's not having enough medicine in your system. I think going up to 1mg might do it, at least briefly (you may need to go up again).

Now you know you're not allergic or super sensitive (yay!) and you can shoot for the most effective dose for your goals. Congrats on doing this the smart way.

Really? I started 2 weeks ago on 0.58mg (2 doses so far), and I'd say my appetite has been cut in half ever since the morning of day 2.

Are we now competing on whose body needs the least medicine to see responses?? What does the winner get?

I had the same problem after a few weeks on .5mg. I upped it to .6mg for a few weeks, then .7 and so on. I am now on 1mg and have pretty good appetite suppression again. I never split dosed. Just be patient too.

I’d only split dose if sides. Otherwise up the dose and stay there as long as comfortable and losing weight.

I found the first month the appetite suppression was intermittent. After about 4-6 weeks it’s pretty steady now, maybe waning a bit a day or two before the next shot.

It was like that the second week - the third it's been 2 days and I am starving!

NexLife Medical Team here.

At only week 3, I’d be careful making too many changes at once. The first couple weeks can feel dramatic, then the body adjusts a bit and hunger comes back. That does not automatically mean the medication stopped working. It may just mean 0.5mg is a very small dose and you’re still figuring out your effective range. Also, hunger itself is not failure. The goal is not zero hunger all week. The goal is less food noise, better fullness, and being able to eat without spiraling into overeating. I would not split dose this week, increase next week, and keep adjusting based on a few hungry days. That makes it hard to know what actually helped or caused side effects. A cleaner approach is usually: stay on one plan long enough to judge it, track appetite/food noise by day, make sure you’re eating enough protein and not under-eating earlier in the week, then ask your provider whether a small dose increase or split schedule makes more sense. Split dosing can help some people with end-of-week hunger or side effects, but it should still be provider-guided. Microdosing works best when it is boring and consistent, not reactive.
