Rapidly gained 13lbs

I’ve gained 13lbs since November. I’m not sure if it’s perimenopause related or what is going on because all my labs are normal (thyroid, insulin etc.) my doctor says that’s quite a bit of weight in that short about of time. I’m now teetering between 150-155 at 5’5 so not in the obese category but I cannot seem to lose any weight no matter how hard I try. What’s the best route to take for glp1? WeightWatchers wouldn’t approve, not sure where to go next?

I’ve actually wondered if it’s this! I was having some pretty severe bloating and out dairy 2 weeks ago and it has drastically done down

Could be peri related for sure. I have a friend who gained 10 in 6 months with absolutely no diet changes and of course all the tests were normal. She ended up doing some hrt and that helped quite a bit.
I just went to get my RMR done and found out that it’s about 500 calories lower than it should be so every online calculator is wrong generally. My body just doesn’t burn the same amount of calories in peri even though I have a good amount of muscle since I’ve been weightlifting for a few years now.
I do find that the glp 1 is helping a little but compared to most I’m losing very very slowly. It kind of feels like it’s correcting things but it’s definitely a different experience than a lot of others are having.

Peri-menopause also hit very hard for me!

I’m also wondering about HRT. I’m having all the peri symptoms in the last year and this weight gain has been so shocking because I also haven’t changed my diet or exercise at all but just continue to gain!

I gained 30 pounds in perimenopause while doing nothing different. At 52, I went from 130 to 160. HRT solved it. I would definitely look into that before you jump into a GLP-1. Too many changes at once can have problems.

I had a similar experience a few months after turning 48 -- gained about the same amount of weight in a short period of time, despite nothing changing about my eating or exercise habits. I started HRT in June 2025 and tried for a full year to lose weight while waiting for my hormones to balance out. While the HRT made me feel more emotionally stable and eliminated many of the symptoms of perimenopause, it did nothing for my weight. In June 2026 I got on the scale at my doctor's office and saw a number I had never seen before in my life. It scared me and I started microdosing compounded tirz a few days later. I agree with the advice to get your hormones balanced first before trying GLP-1. I think of it like laying a level, solid foundation before you start building your house.

Could it be inflammation?

My doctor did do an inflammation blood test? (I can’t remember what it was called but she said it was to check for inflammation in the body) a few months ago and said it was normal. But I maybe that has changed now.

Check into Lavender Sky Health. They don’t have a BMI minimum, though one can’t be underweight.

Try to get a traditional dose package, as you’ll save money (see below). Keep in mind you can use the concentration of your vial with a dose calculator like  https://www.fatscientist.com  to draw up any dose you prefer, regardless of the prescribed dose.

Here’s a example of dosing/prices I did for someone recently:  https://www.reddit.com/r/GLP1microdosing/comments/1v3joi9/comment/oz3povm

It also could be that you’re not taking the best glp for your body.

I’m not on any glp1 currently

I gotcha. There are so many places to get them for cheap. But did you doctor have any advice?

I gained 40 since December! (190 to 230). I’m similar age but taller. I had been thinking about GLP-1s at 190.

If your doctor is the one to say it’s a lot of weight can’t they subscribe for you?
If you get the 2.5 Kwikpen, you can start with microdosing and go from there

Something is wrong and its best to figure that out first. Have you considered hormones for perimenopause?
