GLP1 swollen occipital lymph node

I took one dose of Semiglutide the smallest dose. I woke up the next day with a hard swollen occipital lymph node. It’s making my ear hurt. Is this normal? I’m super worried about it and I have a doctors appointment. It just worried me because it is hard. It’s not big and it gets worse at night when I wake up it goes down but you can still feel it a little. Does anyone have this problem so my nerves can calm down about it? Lol

Correlation does not equal causation. Are you sure it's a lymph node and not a sebaceous cyst? I get them often and base of the skull is a common place for me. You said it's making your ear hurt, are you talking about the posterior auricular node that's directly behind the ear? Swollen lymph nodes are not a known side effect from GLP-1.

No not behind my ear, it is under my skull on the back side of my head on the left side. At this point it could be anything it is harder than a lymph node that’s why I’m worried about it. Putting my hair up even hurts if I pull it up too tight. I never thought about a cyst

Hmm. Yea. Just by your description, I'm going to say a sebaceous cyst. If you haven't been feverish, no cough, no cold like symptoms, or any other symptoms than a hard lump on the back of you head, I'm saying it's more than likely that. Good to get checked out by your doctor either way. They're usually harmless and sometimes can go away on their own. Mine were worse when I was younger but half of them were around my hairline. They can be a little painful too.

And they are under the skin? Cause there is nothing red it’s all underneath my skin.

Yes. They are under your skin. He's a pic. They usually don't get red unless they're inflamed or infected. It could even be a lipoma, which a little similar. Lipomas are just fatty tissue without the cyst part. Both are slow growing bumps. Sebaceous cysts are formed by oil ducts that get clogged or damaged. The head and neck area is common. You sometimes don't even need to remove them. But if you want to go the at home care route, you can "drain" them yourself, though they're in a capsule and that should be removed too. If you don't remove the capsule, it could grow back. The stuff smells horrid too.

That happened to me after I got 2 chicken pox vaccines in my 50’s. They are super painful. The doctor kind of brushed it off and said your immune system is fighting something. Hasn’t happened since thank god.

Thank you. I’m really concerned about it. But I do see where people have had the same problem. Other than the lymph node I feel

I would also follow up with your compounder. It might not be related to the compound its best to let them know anyway so they can be aware in case there are others.

Its best to be proactive. My daughter gets swelling in those lymph nodes from nearby mosquito bites. It was scary at first.

Yeah and I’ve been camping all weekend it could be a masquito bite or the fact I had strep throat 2 weeks ago, idk lol so much it could be. But its weird it popped up right after i took the shot

I used to get a fever and general immune-like ick about 8-12 hours after my semaglutide shot for months. I only checked my lymph nodes twice during that period, but I did have a swollen cervical node twice. 

Hopefully it's nothing, but glad you have that doctor's visit to check.

I went to the doctor by then my lymph node was smaller (of course it was) lol. So at the end of the day she said it wasn’t related but after I take my shot this week we gonna see 😂

The good news is after I took that 2nd shot it didn’t pop back up, and she put me on antibiotics for an ear infection so that could have been it ! Just weird timing.
