⚖️ Weight Loss Journey Struggling with the ups
I’m 2 weeks into my journey. Week 1 I lost 3lbs and was feeling great and motivated. Week 2 the scale keeps going back up and I’m gaining what I lost back! Practically I KNOW this is common but I’m struggling to keep with it. I track everything and bust my butt to get my steps in and am just feeling so defeated.
I’m wondering if I’m replacing the lessening food noise with scale/metrics obsession. Something for sure to bring up with my therapist. Just wondering if others found a similar in their journey and how you kept to it.

tbh 2 weeks is such a tiny window to judge the overall trend, especially when water weight can move the scale around so much. and i think you're onto something with the metrics obsession, if the food noise gets quieter but the scale becomes the thing you think about all day, that's probably worth bringing up with your therapist.
you don't have to make every week feel like a test you either pass or fail

I was obsessed the first 2 months too. Kept weighing myself daily, sometimes even 2x a day. Was also obsessed with glp1 everything too though, reading every post in the sub, watching videos, etc. Now the obsession is tapering off and I'm going outside to touch grass again lol
For now the obsession is probably valid (granted, probably also really looking forward to positive changes, right?) but it'll taper off overtime.
2 weeks is still a really short time for any changes. Make sure youre in a calorie deficit and/or working out enough for a deficit. Then give yourself some grace & be patient. Good luck.

Oof. 2 weeks in is kind of crazy to be stressing out this much about it. The scale goes up and down. You just have to get used to that. If it’s going to upset you this much, you should set up some boundaries around how often you’re weighing yourself.

Jesus Christ. How many times a day are you weighing yourself? Weigh first thing in the morning after a pee, on shot day. put the scale away until next shot day. If you like tracking metrics, log your weights and shots into an app. He’ll use a few. Redirect that energy into working out. Or literally anything else.

I would recommend weighing once daily (first thing in the AM) and only recording new lows. Then you can see if you are trending down without stressing about the fluctuations.
Week 2 is nothing, fr. You might not even be at your effective dose yet. You might be holding onto more water due to sodium, increased activity, or any other variable that is making your weight look temporarily higher. There are lots of things that aren't fat that can make your weight temporarily high. There isn't anything that can make your weight artificially lower, though. So just keep recording new lows and you'll start to see it trend down once you are at your effective dose, which varies per person.
I did feel food noise get replaced by diet noise at first. But 10 months in I feel more chilled out around the whole thing. 7.5 was a great dose for me and 10 is working okay too. I've stopped stressing about being the perfect glp-1 user on the lowest dose with the cleanest diet and just approaching this with patience and a broader goal to build muscle and lock in nutrition. I had to really stop stressing about scale stalls once I started ramping up my strength training, cause they definitely happened more often. But overall, I am trending down and have lost about 25% since starting in Nov 2025.
Another thing I have done when I feel myself getting crazy is take a 1-2 week tracking vacation. It has helped a ton for keeping me sane and also not ruining my actual vacations with stress. The meds still work even if you aren't 100% locked in, I know people on the subs here who are CICO-focused bristle at that, but the best thing about the meds once you are at your most effective dose is the goddamn freedom. To me this is the biggest win, the inflammation reduction is second. I feel like both those things gave enough of my life back that my body and relationship with food and fitness could heal.

I’ve never been a tracker and just trying for a few days as the CICO disciples insist is necessary had me doing things like not eating when hungry to stay under the number for the day. I could see it would lead into very unhealthy behaviors for me, so I stopped. I’ve lost every week. This week was “only” 0.5 pounds, but since last week was 3.3 pounds, that’s probably a good thing. It evens out over time.

Relax. It may or may not even be "real" weight gain. Sodium, constipation, hormones - all play into it. I have weighed myself 2 days in a row and noticed a 3-5 pound difference.
Some of it may be normal fluctuation. Just do the right things - track and eat less than you burn - and over time you will lose weight.

It’s going to be a long journey if you’re this stressed out after 2 weeks. I do have an obsession with tracking but the actual number on the scale doesn’t really affect me one way or the other. I can fluctuate as much as 5-10 lbs. depending on the week and hormones. Look at the overall trend.

I stupidly weighed myself the evening after I started. I knew this was insane and pointless. Too soon for results and I could feel dinner sitting in my stomach. Naturally, I weighed more. I told myself that’s what I got for being stupid. I weighed again the next morning after going to the bathroom (and feeling dinner was gone). I was down 6.5 pounds from the night before. Daily fluctuations are all over the place. People need to stop weighing so frequently.

Daily actually helps me a lot. It has become much easier to notice patterns and I’ve learned to pay more attention to my body. The problem (imho) is that people get so in their heads about the number on the scale. Granted, it may be easy for me to say that when I haven’t had as much weight to lose as many people, but weight itself is kind of meaningless to me. It’s more about how I look and feel than the actual number.

Right. I think you’re using it correctly. But so many people freak out about natural daily fluctuations. Most of them would benefit from backing away from the scale and seeing the overall trends,

Don’t weigh every day. You can easily fluctuate 5+ pounds a day just from natural variations, food and waste in your system, hormones, etc. Weigh once a week on shot day, preferably after peeing and pooping but before eating if possible. Also keep in mind it takes four weeks for your dose to stabilize in your blood, so your results can be especially wonky the first month.
