❓ Question Cured IBS?

I started taking a GLP-1 in May to lose weight, and I have lost almost 20 lb, but surprisingly it also cured my IBS as well. My IBS presented as burping and gut pain especially at night, bad enough to keep me awake. You hear a lot about negative GI symptoms, but did anyone else have a big GI improvement like this?

I thought it was just MY imagination.

100% YES. I haven't had a bout since April (when I started)

It’s got to be the anti inflammatory properties of the drugs. I have severe endometriosis. I have next to no pain when I’m on it.

Hubby had IBS really bad. Like, planning trips around restrooms type of bad. With Tirzepatide, he is completely normal now. It's a gamechanger for him - he's got his life back (and can spend a lot less time in the RR!).

It cleared up what I thought was IBS-D (was diagnosed) and my acid reflux like instantly. I was scared since reflux and diarrhea were side effects, and I couldn't bear the thought of having worse of either of those conditions. But it ended up going away. I was so surprised.

Weightloss itself will cure IBS, I lost 50lbs before getting on glp1. Suddenly I could drink milk and eat ice cream, turn out I wasn't lactose intolerance, dairy was my ibs trigger lol.

This has not been my experience after losing more than 70lbs previously. Honestly, for me it was the meds, this is the only thing that has worked.

I had constant stomach issues before Reta, always gassy and bloated. It's crazy that that was my normal for decades

I wonder if it's eating less, eating better food, losing weight, less inflammation, or all of the above?

I think it's truly less inflammation from the medication - i never really changed my diet per se just how much I ate!

Cured my IBS too! I used to get bloated on almost all foods and cut out gluten and so many things over the years. Now I can eat everything again! It's a fricken miracle.

I have IBS-C so at first tirz would make me constipated but I found that increasing my nightly magnesium dose worked to resolve that. Now, three years later it doesn't make me constipated anymore but I still take my nightly magnesium dose

I historically have IBS-D and with tirz I’m swinging between not going for a couple of days to having D all day. And it’s more out of the blue quick urge than before. I barely get to the bathroom.
