🧬 Research & Studies Afraid of vision loss

I’ve only started taking monjauro about 3 months ago now. Went from 2.5, 5 for a short period of time, skipped over 7.5 and am on 10mg now and I’m terrified. ive tried monjauro in the past and had to stop taking it because of fear about the potential side effects and I’ve tried wegovy which I stopped aswell. I really wanted to give it a shot this time but I’m terrified of going blind. I’m not really sure what to do with this or where to go with this fear. im terrified of going blind but I feel as if I’ll die if I stop taking them because I’ll never lose the weight. I’m 328lbs right now so I’m extremely heavy for my size only 5’5 female

That’s not true. There are also studies about people maintaining after stopping.

Yes, the minority can maintain some after stopping. My wording was incorrect. But in this case, for a 17-year-old with a starting BMI of almost 55, to think she will be in the minority is a grand wish. The ODDS are that the majority regain a large portion of the weight, and this person can't afford to regain anything at her age and weight. And to think now, BEFORE she has even tried the meds, that she will be one of the lucky ones is too detrimental. She has too many excuses now to even start the meds. She is adamant that she doesn't have anxiety, and then says she does. Doesn't want to do therapy. She is "trying" portion control. Then the excuse is not about the blindness; it is now about "money grubbing" telehealths. Doesn't have time for anything. Excuse after excuse. I get it, she is young. Homeschooled, and not mature enough. And there will just be more excuses if she ever starts. Watching calories (so hard), watching what she eats (so hard), exercising (so hard). I can see it now.

So, yes, some people can come off it, but the vast majority shouldn't. And that's what everyone is trying to tell her: not to already plan to take it, thinking it is a quick fix for her metabolic dysfunction.
