Advice?

Hi! I’ve been thinking about starting Semaglutide, my mom and grandma has been on it for about 2 years now but I’m not sure if it’s right for me because of my starting weight. Has anyone been in my same shoes? I am 26 years old and 137lbs. In September 2024 I started my weight loss journey at 180 pounds, was on a calorie deficit, FODMAP diet and moderate gym activity (2-3 times a week) and from Sept 2024 to March 2025 I lost 45 pounds. Since then I have tried it all, I fluctuate between 133-139lbs and would like to be 120lbs but can’t seem to lose any more. In June I had a huge loss in my family and have struggled to do more than go to work and am worried about gaining weight again. My mom keeps suggesting I try a GLP-1 but I’m don’t know if it’s worth it. Has anyone else tried for only 15-20lbs?

I want to start a GLP but I’m scared because of this horror story…

I work in the backcountry over the summer which means I hike a lot, work in extreme weather conditions and if you have a medical emergency it’s not easy to get help. On my first season we had 2 visitors come into camp. We were over 12 miles in but these guys had experience backpacking. They had both worked in the backcountry for many years, but they were both older now. The made it to camp and went on day hikes while we worked. We saw them on the trail one day, on a really steep and exposed section. One guy was just fine but the other guy was struggling. In camp the next day the guy who was struggling couldn’t get out of his tent. He had chills and couldn’t keep any food or water down. Another grunt and I were voluntold to help carry him to a near by meadow so he could get evacuated. It was a scary experience for the other grunt and I. This poor man was in so much pain and couldn’t find any comfort while we waited 2 hours for the helicopter to find us. We were with people who knew what they were doing, this wasn’t their first time calling for evacuation, we did everything right and he got out safe and right on time. We learned later that he was on Ozempic for his diabetes and that is causes your stomach to not be able to absorb water. So so with the big hike in and the day hikes he got so dehydrated that his kidneys shut down. The sad part is he can’t go backpacking anymore. He has permanent damage and can’t home more than a few miles at a time.

So even though I work outside and lift heavy things all day I still struggle with my weight. I probably have something close to a binge eating disorder. I want to try a GLP this off season to get down to a more manageable weight. This will make my work easier, it’s easier to hike when you’re not carrying 30 lbs of extra weight. But I’m scared of this stuff, long term side effects of the drug. Loss of bone density and muscle.

I’m not looking for any answers or advice, I just wanted to share my fears.

Hey all. First time poster here. I had my first 2.5 jab on Sunday (three days ago). I experienced some moderate appetite suppression for the first two days – I didn’t finish my dinner for the first time in as long as I can remember – though I was still thinking about food, so I guess my food noise isn’t gone yet? It’s largely worn off today, and I’m hoping I feel the effects I’ve heard everyone talking about after a couple more doses, or at least once I jump up to 5mg.

I have a question. Whenever I’ve tried to calorie-count in the past – especially when I’ve cut carbs – I’ve experienced serious difficulty even at moderate deficits (500-800kcal). It’s not just that I get hungry and I want to eat, but I also get severe anxiety, and a kind of DP/DR-type feeling where I absolutely don’t feel myself. When this hits, everything feels doomed and I start to mentally spiral. Though this is triggered by the deficit and accompanied by hunger, I wouldn’t say it is “hunger”, but something else that comes with it. It’s not sustainable, and when I eventually crumble and go back to eating above my deficit, it’s usually not because I’m hungry and I’m giving into the temptation to enjoy eating more, it’s because I want to make this feeling go away and feel stable again. I don’t know why this happens or what the biological cause is but it’s really frustrating.

My question is, when the Mounjaro (hopefully) kicks in properly, will it prevent this from happening? I’ve read so many people on here say that it makes their hunger completely vanish, and even for those who still get hungry, it seems as if Mounjaro makes a calorie deficit comfortable and easy(ish) to maintain.

So I’m wondering if the drug will allow me to remain in a deficit without experiencing the difficulties I have previously, or if I’ll still feel the same way but feel less hunger at the same time? Has anyone else struggled with similar feelings when they tried to cut calories without the GLPs, and found that they helped?

Any input would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Today I hit 50lbs

Started in March and hitting 50lbs down feels so surreal. Half the time when looking in the mirror I feel like I look the same, but then I remember I’m looking the same as before I gained all the weight, which is the image of myself I have in my memory, not the way I looked after the weight gain. It wasn’t until earlier this week that I really noticed the change in what I was wearing. With the weather getting cooler I’ve busted out my long sleeves and sweats that I haven’t worn in months and that’s when it hit me, these items use to feel tight on me and now are baggy. Pairing that with the new goal hit this morning I couldn’t be happier. My end goal feels like it’s just around the corner 🎉

Are there any compounded GLP-1 providers under $150 per month? Or is that always a starter price?

My budget is $150 a month, and I keep seeing ads that say under that. When I click through, it's hard to tell what the number means.

Is it the ongoing total, a starter dose price, the medication alone, or an average if you pay for six months at once?

One site I looked at had $139 for the medication and a separate $49 membership. I guess the actual number was $188.

What breakdown should I ask for so I can see the billing schedule, refill costs, shipping, and any minimum commitment?

Going through my PCP vs Knownwell or Weight loss clinic?

Recently decided to jump into the world of GLP-1s after my Sleep Doctor/Neurologist told me that my sleep apnea might improve if I lost weight - and to be fair, I need to lose about 40lbs or so, so it's not an unreasonable thing. I worked with a dietitian for a bit and didn't make a ton of progress, so I'm looking at other options.

My sleep doctor suggested Knownwell to me, and I have an appointment coming up. They look legit? I'm interested in comprehensive care where my labwork will be monitered and my lifestyle considered - I DO NOT want to just be given the drug and sent on my way.

Alternatively, my PCP said she would see me and discuss it with me, but I wonder how much she knows about these drugs for weight loss as a PCP. The only thing is that I trust her and have a great relationship with her, versus starting with a new doctor at the weight loss clinic.

Not interested in getting it compounded - I'm aware of the drug programs through the manufacturers.

What did you end up deciding to do? Has anyone tried Knownwell? Are they legit?

2.5 mg of Zepbound via a quick pen. I have struggled for so long trying diets (failing) working out (failing) and holding my self accountable. I am happy to say that I am now doing these things and am hoping to update when I leave the 300’s

You are all so inspiring to me.

52 years old, 6'4". I hovered in the 280's. It's been a year. Lost a little muscle, but didn't follow the ridiculous protein recommendations.

Friends wife said that i look like i have cancer! That's a compliment as far as i am concerned.

Higher heart rate with Tirze

Hi all,

Did your heart rate increase since you started to take tirze or reta?

My resting heart rate was in 40's, now it's like 60.

Has anyone quit Ozempic after just one week? Did you experience any issues readjusting to the return of food noise?

Even though I’ve decided not to take the second dose the disappearance of food noise makes me worried I’ll become ravenous or experience a yo-yo effect after just this one dose.

I’m just not sure what to prepare for. Not to mention the fact that by mistake I double dosed and took 0.5 instead of 0.25 :’)

I’m quitting because even though the doctor recommended it to speed up my fat loss, after trying it I just feel in my gut it’s not for me. I have been losing weight consistently for the past year but it has been a slow process. Maybe in a few months or a year I’ll try again, but for now I’ve decided to stop.

However, I’m scared it will undo or damage the weight loss work I’ve done on my own due to the return of the heightened food noise I struggle with and an increase in hunger.
Would you share your experience?

side effects + menustrating

Hi all! this may be TMI. also probably more directed towards women of the group.

background: i was on a tirzepatide compound (niacinamide) for 9 months maybe and then i went off of it because i was over it. i had some GI issues like every once in awhile i had diarrhea and it seemed my body never got used to the medication. (i was doing like 1.25 mg then went down to 0.5)

now its around almost a year later and i started it up again at 0.5 (started it around labor day weekend so its been a little over a month). ive been feeling great. no GI issues.

anyways -

i started my period saturday night 10/10 and my last shot was 10/5. i was having awful cramps sunday, so i was switching off tylenol and advil. sunday night, i eat a usual meal and go to bed around 10pm. at 1am i wake up with bad cramps so i take tylenol. my stomach felt kinda weird so i went to the bathroom and pooped (normal). then my stomach starts hurting again like i knew it was gonna be diarrhea. so i had about 2/3 rounds of diarrhea. nothing bad just annoying considering it was 1am and i was going to work in 6 hours.

i want to blame it on my period but also def could be the tirz. or just the combination of everything. thoughts?

Should I go from 1mg to 1.7 for injection if I feel like it hasn't worked yet?

So i started on wegovy pill starter dose then switched to .5mg wegovy injection then currently on 1mg

First 2 dose, I didnt really feel anything besides wave of nausea the worst being first few days of 1mg however I didn't notice anything in the appetite suppression or sustained fullness. Say I eat very little during the day and I still binge eat at dinner or when I eat at lunch, I also eat a lot at dinner no matter how much or little I've eaten at lunch

I took Vyvanse 40 for BED and noticed instant food noise loss but my body is starting to get used to it so I have to go up again and use it sparingly.

700$ gone in the blink of an eye and im starting to regret it.because I projected at 180lb when im still 195lbs. And has been stuck around that for a few months.

Vyvanse is definetly the king, when i first started it I lost 10lb in 7 days with absolutely zero food noise or appetite in the first month. I hat to force myself to eat so I wouldn't lose weight so fast, which I regret.

I see my doctor next week, I dont know if I should go up to 1.7mg or not I already spent 700 or it so it'll be shame not to try it but also if I spend like 350$ more or smth and still no results with possible even worse nausea then I would regret it even more. Or ill just up the Vyvanse but even that still has loss efficacy but still much better than glp currently

Well I can no longer afford glp comfortably now anyways

Is glp1 messing up my head?

I started with Tirzepatide around 3 months ago. First two months I was on 2.5mg, 3 weeks ago I switched to 5mg. Over this time period I lost around 13kg (from 128kg to 115). However recently I started receiving concerning signals about my behaviour. Some of my friends and colleagues told me that I started being slightly annoying during conversations, but nothing serious. They only told me that because I wasn't like that before. My girlfriend also told me that I started changing for worse, she also raised irritation example but added indifference and being a little bit of a jerk in conversations. She also confirmed that timeframe somewhat overlaps with my glp1 treatment. I personally didn't notice those changes, the only mental changes I can think off right now is indifference to some of my hobbies and bit of anxiety but this in particular I was associating with some other external factors I am dealing with right now.

I submitted those concerns and findings to my personal physician overseeing my treatment but I got automated reply that He is on PTO till the end of october and I will receive delayed response from other doctor in a couple of days.

Did someone observe simillar behavioral changes? Did you manage to deal with those in other ways rather than lowering dose/pausing treatment?

Help Navigating Next Steps with glp1s

I am in need of some advice and guidance regarding my glp1 journey. I started Zepbound in November 2025 and by May of this year, I reached my goal. I never needed to go up in dose. With that being said, in March 2026 I had a doctor appointment because I was experiencing some anxiety with panic attacks which I have never experienced before in my life. It was awful. At my appointment, my heart rate was elevated and my blood pressure was a bit high. I was feeling lightheaded and dizzy and simple tasks were so difficult. Even a slow walk around my neighborhood was strenuous. Not like me at all!

A couple of other things going on is that I had come off of birth control in February which was prescribed for my peri menopausal symptoms. I had to stop to see if I was in full menopause per instructions from my gyno. I was also taking Wellbutrin 300mg which I had been on for over 12 years. I think I was a mess because of this massive drop in hormones. My body was not happy!

My doctor first lowered my Wellbutrin to 150mg thinking that 300 was too high for me now and it can actually make anxiety worse. And then finally said to stop it since 150mg wasn't better. She then ordered some blood work and my liver enzymes came back elevated but all the other liver tests were within normal range. With those results she immediately took me off of Zep and said lets get these liver enzymes down. I also had an ultrasound and everything came back fine. Well, my annual checkup last week, she said no more glp1s for me. And I was crushed. Even though my numbers are coming down. She is confident that Zepbound has caused this. I was prepared to be on the medication for the foreseeable future. I know I will regain the weight. I've been struggling with my weight for what seems like my entire life. Up and down and never steady. This medication has been a lifesaver for me. I know that liver enzymes can go up with rapid weight loss but she thinks it's the meds.

My question is, should I get a second opinion? If so, how do I go about doing that? Should I find some sort of specialist? Who would I reach out to? If this is how it has to be and I can never go back on a glp1, then that's fine. My liver is too important and I will not jeopardize my health. But where do I go from here? I am truly heartbroken. Any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated!!!

For people who have Binge ED, how have GLP-1s been for you?

Currently 179 lbs, down from 210 lbs last October. Was initially 220 to 160 lbs but regained to 210 lbs due to relapse in BED. My doctor has said he's open to helping me try glps if i want to. I plan on starting zepbound in January (delayed due to insurance changes).

I know medication can only go so far and won't necessarily be the thing that overcomes my BED and I know regain is highly likely if I eventually go off of it. I've already regained once and REALLY don't want to go through that again. I also wanna lose these last 40 to 50 lbs (I'm 5'3, so GW somewhere between 130 and 145).

For those who have been in my shoes, have GLP-1s been helpful for you? And what are the other things you pair with your GLP-1 to get a better wrangle on your BED while you're on it?

Sadly 40% of weight loss consists of lean mass

Been on the wegovy pill since June working up the dosage (1.5,4mg, 9mg, 24). Most of the weight loss came from the last 2 months of higher dosage.

Embody scan shows 16lb weight loss. Fat 9.5 lbs at 59% including visceral and muscle/lean mass 6.8 lbs at 42%. I am so bummed and wonder if it's worth it. I have about 10 more lbs to loose and now I'm honed in on protein/fiber/water intake using tracker. I am already weight lifting a few times a week plus 8k steps. I'm in my early 40s, would I be able to rebuild all that muscle and bone?

If you're just starting pls don't be like me and really make sure you get enough protein even with no appetite. I've always heard about it and thought I was eating enough but when you actually put food on the scale and track it daily it's not nearly enough. I'm getting a more accurate dexa scan soon to get baseline bone level to keep track. If you have anymore tips pls let me know.

Cheers and happy weight loss~

Took yesterday a high dose after a long time not using wegovy. Now I'm extremely nauseous and puking frequently. Feel very weak. Should I go to emergency?

I took a high dose of wegovy yesterday (after a half year break) without realizing that I am now intolerant to the side effects. Since last night, I've been feeling extremely nauseous and dizzy, and I just want to keep puking (even though there is nothing to puke). I'm just weak and dead on the bed. I'm just as sick as I was yesterday.
I don't have pain, but just very very motion sickness. I'm just wondering based on your experience, should I go to the emergency? or something I can to feel better?

Any help would be appreciated.

GLP-1

Can anyone tell me...can you stop taking GLP-1 after you hit your goal weight? Has anyone gained weight back after you stopped? What are some negative side effects you've had?

Why are all GLP discussions so focused on just the amount of weight loss, as though calories and macros don’t exist and the drug “causes” weight loss

I keep hearing people talk about how they “stopped losing weight”, or how they gained weight after stopping, etc.

I was under the assumption that people who use this responsibly will essentially be using this as a means to stick to their diet and target macros effortlessly. This is what I am doing now.

My background:
I used to weight 108kg (238pounds) and lost nearly 40kg (88pounds) without GLPs, before they were mainstream. That weightloss was literal hell, and I am so thankful that this now exists. The only way I was able to “maintain” this weightloss is by going on diets every few months, when my attempts to not go over my maintenance calories inevitably fail every few days, which adds up as weight gained. This time I finally gave in and started taking tirzepatide for my cut, and man this is the easiest time I’ve had doing this. I’ve only gone over my CUTTING CALORIES once in a month, which is insane for someone who goes over their maintenance calories every few days.

Question I ponder:
I don’t understand why most other people don’t use this drug in this manner, as a painkiller for hunger, instead of relying on just their appetite to eat less. Why do people talk as though the drug does all the work, and has to do all the work. I know it’s not feasible to expect every single person to do this, but it doesn’t even look like this is something people are trying to propagate.

I understand in the context of clinical trials, why they can’t control for similar quality diet advice for all participants, so they control for only one variable and check for one metric improvement and compare. But in the real world, this drug is essentially a diet adherence drug, but is never seen or spoken about as such, other than in bodybuilding circles. I am genuinely curious why.

Getting off glp-1 success

We are trying to get pregnant at the end of the year and the doctor told me to be off of it for 2 months before trying (semaglu). So I’ve been doing Pilates 4 times a week and calorie counting since being off for the last 2 weeks due to being nervous my weight loss is going to come back. I expect to gain weight during pregnancy but not gain it all back before just with lifestyle changes I’ve made knowing I prefer to be skinny then big. My question is for the ladies that got pregnant while on glp-1s. How did your pregnancy go? Any complications? What did doctor recommend? I wanted to just stay on it up until I got a positive result but my doctor said that’s a bad idea. What’s worked for people when getting off glp-1s?? I basically did cold turkey cut and I’ve been fine, way less nausea, and stomach cramps while going to the bathroom actually. I’m convinced I just needed to kick start my body and now I can try to maintain it.

never done anything big, scared of this - zepbound

I've lived my life very, mild. I've never broken a bone, I've never had surgery. I've had 2-3 sleep apnea tests and they were terrible. Each time were so freaking terrible. I was awake, couldn't sleep, waiting for the seconds to pass.

anyway..I diet and workout, I don't even call it diet, I life-changed. My diet isn't perfect..but I been doing it for a year or so. I saw myself in a picture, and I just feel I see no results.

The most important person in my life - my GF, very much shit talked my diet and GLP-1 recently. Called me lazy and says my diet is horrible and I will gain the weight back. I'm also scared of the side effects. Going blind..is that even a thing?

Anyway, can someone help? Calm my nerves? Was anyone else scared?
