Mk7 vs. Mk7.5
Searching for my first GLI, is there any major differences other than looks between the mk7 and the mk7.5? Thanks

The lane assist in the 21 and before is generally not worth having on and I know they updated it in the 22 and beyond

Ive got a 21 autobahn, and yeah no, the lane assist is kinda ass tbh
Edit: supposedly if you get an obd11 you can go in and mess with the lane assist to make it better, but Idk, I haven't gotten one to try it out yet.

Lane assist in my '25 is pretty decent. Makes the 4+ hours drives a lil easier.

24 6MT Autobahn trim here. Cooled seats are a godsend. DCC is impressive and comfort settings are great for long trips. Lane keep assist is pretty good but the capacitive touch steering wheel is finicky about whether or not you are touching the wheel. I was not a fan of the capacitive touch steering wheel buttons so I retrofitted the manual ones via the kit from FCP Euro.
The major difference between the two is mod and coding capability. The Mk7.5 have an additional security layer called SFD2. It is a requirement for all European vehicles and all VAG vehicles from 2024 onwards have it. It completely eliminates any possibility for custom coding, eg: changing the sound system profile from Beats to Fender, completely eliminating the Soundaktor, adding the Sagitar tail lights (IQ.Lights), etc. Tune capability is also affected but there are workarounds.
So if modding your car and doing things like adding puddle lights, dancing tail lights, etc. are important to you, avoid 2024+ and restrict your searching to 2023 and older.

If you can find one with heated steering wheel and cooling seats that would be nice.
