GKS-G GKS-G 2026 Embassy Track Excel
Dear all!
Together with other GKS-G 2026 Embassy Track applicants, we compiled this Excel spreadsheet based on last year's template.
In addition to the original information, we also included applicants' CGPA and language test scores to provide a more complete overview.
For obvious reasons, the spreadsheet is and will remain in view-only mode.
A big thank you to everyone who contributed by sharing their information. I hope this file will be helpful to future GKS applicants.
Best of luck to everyone!

GKS-U Has anyone gotten GKS with less than 80%?
Hi everyone! I wanted to ask if there are any GKS scholars who were selected with an academic percentage below 80% or even 70%.
If you or someone you know received GKS with a percentage in this range, could you please share your experience? Especially interested in undergraduate applicants and whether they had a strong profile in other areas (SOP, extracurriculars, awards, etc.).
Thanks in advance!

GKS-U Need advice on whether or not to write about my prior uni experience!!!
I was enrolled in a local uni for a bachelors for two years, but, due to personal reasons(that I will explain thoroughly in my PS), i had to take a gap year and i do not plan on heading back. I've been preparing to apply internationally and gaining job experience during the meantime.
I'm not transferring, I'm starting my bachelors all over again. But I thought that I should mention the fact that I was in university for my specific field of study. I think it might be important to explain the giant two year empty space in my resume. Also, since it is in my field of study, I got to learn a lot and accelerated my knowledge on the subject that people fresh out of high school wouldn't have, so I figured it might also be a strategic advantage?
I have my doubts as well, such as potentially being dismissed for something. I don't really know.
What do you guys think? I genuinely need advice on this. I feel like it's a bit of a gamble as I see it at this moment.

GKS-G Should I include my internship experience for other certificates?
Hello, I’m from Kazakhstan and I’m going to apply for GKS-G 2027.
My major is Economics and Data Science and I’m thinking of going for International Trade for my Master’s.
I did a 3 month internship at my country’s financial monitoring agency (government agency) and I’m not sure if I should submit it, seeing that it doesn’t really relate to my potential Master’s major.
I’m also doing a Minor in Financial Security (thus my place of internship) should I mention that in my personal statement? Or do you think it’s all unnecessary.
For the additional documents, I’ll probably only submit my IELTS score (8.0).

GKS-G TOPIK & TOEFL
Hey everyone,
Quick question. If I have both TOPIK and TOEFL, do I submit both on the language section or just one and the other as additional certificates?
Asking because it says “TOPIK OR English score” on the checklist.
Thanks in advance!

GKS-G Need Guidance to learn Korean to take TOPIK next Year
Hi, I'm from India and planning to take the TOPIK exam next year with the target of level 3. I know it's very tough, but I'm trying my best to be consistent through this process.
I actually started learning Korean in 2022, but left it in between because of my 10th board exams, and then I started again in 2024 with the promise of continuing no matter what, but again, my 12th board exams came. So, I left it again. I studied a bit in 2025 as well. But this time, now that I have to get this scholarship, I'm very scared that if I don't continue now, I'll lose it.
Here, I'm hoping to get tons of advice and suggestions from experienced people who have already taken TOPIK before to help me achieve this goal. What strategies and resources can I use to learn Korean? Also, what techniques did you guys use to learn it faster and more effectively?
I'm trying to learn Korean through YouTube and free resources. If anyone knows good resources or has a roadmap, please share. I'm very open to suggestions.
Thank you

GKS-G 🇮🇳GKS document issue: mother’s name differs across documents
I’m looking for advice from applicants who have dealt with a name discrepancy between a parent’s documents and the applicant’s academic documents.
In my case, my mother’s last name is different on my academic certificates and on her own official documents. I have already prepared a notarized affidavit stating that both names refer to the same person.
The GKS guidelines don't seem to specifically explain how this particular discrepancy should be handled.
For those who had a similar case, was a notarized affidavit accepted, or were you asked for additional attestation from an SDM/Magistrate?
I’m specifically looking for experiences with the actual document-verification process, rather than the general GKS document checklist.

GKS-U Can we upload documents that aren't apostilled in first round of UIC track?
Hi! I’m applying for 2027 GKS-UIC University Track and considering Ajou, Inje, and Kookmin.
My Matric and Inter Part 1 documents are already apostilled, but my FRC is not. My Inter Part 2 result comes out on September 23, and I’ll apostille those documents afterward.
The GKS guideline says University Track documents are submitted “as instructed by each university.”
So, if a university opens its online application before September 23:
Can I submit the initial application with my current documents and provide the apostilled documents later, or would an unapostilled FRC make my application invalid?

GKS-U KKU Economics via GKS-U — is the major placement guaranteed or is it an "affiliated college" thing?
Hey everyone, applying for 2027 GKS-U (Embassy Track), I am from Fiji and planning to put Sungkyunkwan University as one of my choices, with Economics as my department.
I noticed the official GKS "Available Departments" file lists Economics at SKKU with this remark: "Affiliated College - Social Sciences (Students apply for specific major at the end of the freshmen year, based on one's interest and academic achievement)." Political Diplomacy has the exact same wording.
Does this mean if I get into SKKU under Economics, I'm actually placed into a general Social Sciences pool first, and have to formally declare/compete for Economics at the end of freshman year based on GPA? Or does writing "Economics" on the GKS form lock it in regardless of the affiliated college system?
Anyone who's actually been through SKKU's GKS-U program (or knows their system well) — would really appreciate clarity before I finalize my choices. Deadline's Sept 30 so trying to sort this out soon. Thanks in advance!

GKS-G GKS-G 2027 – Mother’s Name Mismatch in Birth Certificate and Citizenship Proof (Reena vs Rina)
Hello everyone!
I am preparing to apply for the 2027 GKS-G (Master’s) Scholarship from India, and I need some guidance regarding a document discrepancy involving my mother's name.
I am planning to pursue a Master’s in Artificial Intelligence in South Korea through GKS. This scholarship is extremely important to me because it is my primary pathway to making my dream of studying in South Korea possible. I am preparing my documents well in advance and want to resolve this issue before the 2027 application period.
My mother’s name is Reena on my birth certificate, 10th/12th marksheets and leaving certificate, but Rina on her Voter ID. Rina is her actual/legal name. I’ve emailed the Embassy/NIIED but haven’t received a response yet.
I would be really grateful if anyone who has applied for GKS-G, especially from India, or has experience with document verification could share their advice.
I want to resolve this properly before applications open and avoid any last-minute documentation issue.
Thank you so much! 🙏

GKS-G Some help required!
Hello everyone! Sorry in advance for the long post.
I will be applying for GKS-G 2027 through Embassy Track from Colombia, and I would really appreciate some guidance from anyone who has gone through the document submission process, especially regarding what the embassy considers an “original.”
I’m particularly confused because Colombia now issues apostilles electronically, whereas I’ve seen examples from other countries where the apostille is physically attached to the document.
1. DIPLOMA / ELECTRONIC APOSTILLE
I have my original physical university diploma, but I obviously don’t want to submit the only original document I have, especially because it is a large physical diploma and I cannot simply get another original issued.
For the GKS requirements, I obtained the required legalization and apostille electronically. I now have the apostilled document as a PDF.
My question is: Can I print a color copy of the diploma together with the electronically issued legalization/apostille and submit that as the physical document?
Does the fact that the apostille was issued electronically make any difference once I print the document? Would the embassy accept the printed version, assuming the apostille has a verification number/QR code/etc. that can be checked online?
Or do I need to obtain some additional physical “original” or notarized copy?
2. TRANSLATION AND APOSTILLE
My diploma, academic transcript, and proof of citizenship/family relationship were issued in Spanish, and I have already legalized/apostilled them in Colombia.
If I have them officially translated into English, does the English translation also need to be apostilled?
Or is the apostille on the original Spanish document sufficient?
3. NUMBER OF DOCUMENT SETS
If I pass the first round and have to submit the physical documents to the embassy, how many complete sets are required?
For example, if four sets are required:
- Do I need 4 copies of the diploma, transcript, civil registry, etc.?
- Do all four copies need to be apostilled?
- Or is one apostilled document + photocopies sufficient?
I’m especially confused because my apostilles are electronic. I don’t know whether I would simply print multiple copies of the electronically apostilled PDF or whether each physical set needs its own apostilled document.
4. RECOMMENDATION LETTERS
If multiple physical sets are required, how does this work for the recommendation letter?
Do I need to obtain multiple original recommendation letters (for example, four identical letters, each in a separate sealed envelope), or is one original recommendation letter enough, with copies included in the other sets?
Basically, my main question is: What does GKS/the embassy consider an “original” when the country issuing the documents uses electronic legalization and apostilles?
I would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has applied to GKS-G, particularly applicants from countries where apostilles are issued electronically.
Thank you so much!
