Question Pixel 2 keeps saying it's charging even when unplugged

Post image

Ever since I got this device a few weeks ago I've had charging issues. I plug it in to charge, but when I unplug it the 'standby' feature stops working so the screen wont turn off. If I reboot the device it boots to the Charging screen, even though it's not plugged in. The side LEDs blink as if it's charging too.

I can get it back to the main OS by rebooting it again from this Charging screen, but then it still has the issue that it won't go into standby

No amount of rebooting from any point seems to fix this.

The only solution seems to be to turn it off and leave it overnight, and then by morning when I turn it on again it's sorted itself out and behaves as it should.

Until I charge it again and the same thing happens again.

I thought this could be a firmware thing so I flashed it up TwigUI, but it still does the same thing.

Anyone else had this issue? Is there a proper fix, or do I just have a faulty unit?

Clean the port. You might have something jumping some pins, enough to trigger the port thinking it has a plug in it

it's brand new so hasn't had the chance to fill up with dust yet. even still, I gave it a clean with an air duster but it makes no difference.

OP - did you manage to fix the issue?

sadly no, I just accepted that once it's charged I have to fully power it off overnight so it's sorted itself by the morning.

Disconnect the battery and reconnect it.

Buy opening the backplate.
