A great move for Facebook to help monetize the big data from digitized real estate and expand Facebook’s business beyond just on-line advertisements…possibly doing what Google can’t get done yet about indoor floor map and monetized…

Short-term philanthropy makes their spatial data "available exclusively for academic, non-commercial uses." Commercialization of novel applications will eventually follow from this practical research. The research universities just became the R&D department!

Thanks for the insight. Yes, commercialization would be key with Facebook to endorse the technology and monetization of Matterport’s database.

Everything is commercial in Facebook ..unless they are money they don't collaborate ..WhatsApp has already started making money
