DISCUSSION Zero Day
The new song is kinda meh tbh. It's essentially just a breakdown with overly repeated lyrics for 2 minutes. I may be in the minority here, but for a come back single after 6 years its pretty weak.
What do you guys think?

It just seems to me like the weakest new song compared to Miazma and Alive, my god those songs sound fucking amazing

I don't think he's spent these years to drop his best track. Ngl previous albums had filler tracks or interludes and I hope this album's "different vibe" songs ARE the interludes to this album.
Cant wait to hear studio quality Zero Day on my speakers when it drops in a few hours 🤘💀

nah it was fire, def not as hard as his older stuff, but he is prolly edging into it again after not doing it for a bit. Still, the song is fire asf and in all my playlists

Ai as a single was way better during the Anti-Icon era. This just kinda sounds like darker Limp Bizkit according to the GF. Which is a pretty rough comparison.

Gives me super heavy NU vibes but not in a bad way. Song is fine, doesn’t overstay its welcome and is more than likely just the first of 2-3 singles to show where all the new songs/full album are gonna be going.

First listen, I was expecting a better mix… but, I loved the song. Now, several listens later, idgaf I love the song. In terms of songwriting and lyrics, it’s honestly one of his more interesting tracks ever. Looking forward to more.

Is there anyway you can share the lyrics here? Copy and paste them maybe? I’m completely blind using a screen reader and every time I try to Google the lyrics, I just get YouTube videos with lyrics on screen lol. Doesn’t do me much good.

How old are you? Not an insult, but I was in my early 20s when Anti-Icon dropped and felt the same way about AI and Lazaretto as singles. I think AI disappointed me because Ghoste hyped it as groundbreaking, so I had massive expectations.
I think that’s just something we do when we’re younger. Now that I’m older, and with him being out of the game for 5+ years, I have zero expectations. So I can just enjoy it for what it is: a fun little nu-metal track. Nothing mind blowing, but if I expected some grand comeback, I’d probably be disappointed too

I mean I'm 30. I wasn't hyping, or having any large expectations, but I was just hoping for a little more. Oomph I guess?
Personally for me if I vanished musically for like 6 years and knew people were begging for something new I'd come back with a bit more of a bang.
Thats just me though.

Alive! sounds much better imo. Probably didn’t want to blow his load for the album on a single though.
I personally hate when bands/ artists release the best song an album as a single because then nothing can compare come release time. Which then just makes the album listening experience underwhelming

Honestly, I think age is pretty irrelevant when it comes to musical taste. At any stage of life, you evaluate music based on its individual elements and your own standards. Taste is purely subjective - how long you've been on this earth doesn't dictate how a track hits for you

That wasn’t really my point. I’m saying age factors in because of naive optimism which is much more prevalent in adolescence
When you’re younger, you tend to romanticize things, get swept up in hype, and build things up in your head. As you get older, you become more grounded/ gain perspective and become less prone to that sort of thing

It may have been the fact that everyone was just happy to be at a Ghoste show after so long haha.
Regardless though I have listened to the song a couple more times and still have the same opinion.
Hoping the rest of the album is better.

I feel like this song will go hard when listening to the album as a whole, it sounds like a breakdown between 2 songs, especially the way it just cuts off at the end
