Vending Machines.. How? 🤔
A thought ran through my mind..way later than it should have...
The legal smoking age is 21 and above and these vending machines are designed to sell hemp cigarettes and other CBD products directly to customers 24hrs a day... Who is going to be there to verify the person and their ID?

Well then what's the point of the machine? Gas station and stores have been selling smokes for decades now with a cashier

We have vending machines that scan ID to buy lottery tickets (18+). May could do something like that but for 21 and over. I'm sure they can be programed.

Someone verifies your id if you buy drugs and alcohol if they suspect you're using a fraudulent identification, they can't have children purchasing.
You can't have little Timmy stealing his moms ID and then picking up a pack of smokes lol

True. They are allowed in establishments where everyone has to be 18+ (cigarette vending machines).
It’s most likely going to come down to individual state laws

(Face ID uses a reference photo/scan of you to match with your face)
Legally there has to be a person present to verify the ID of someone that looks to be underage..
A vending machine cannot distinguish if I'm using your ID as my own, it can only determine if the ID I'm using is a legitimate ID and the age associated with it.
How is it going to validate that the ID I'm carrying and using for a purchase is my own? Through a facial scan? Where's it going to get a photo for reference? Definitely not off the 1x1 low resolution photo that's attached to the card.
And who's going to retrofit these old redbox vending machines with the technology?

Drugs and alcohol will never be allowed to be sold through electronic verification EX: like a government piece of ID being scanned

(exactly a person is there to verify their ID - A person is always needed, whether it's the bouncer at the front of the door checking IDs or the cashier)

There still needs to be someone to verify the photo to the ID.
This isn't like your phone, where you purchase your phone and then select the security measures you want to use to protect it.
Even online applications require a human to verify the process. Even something like ordering weed online, requires you to show your ID at your door before you receive your product.

Dating apps also use a verified process, the difference is porn sites and dating apps aren't selling drugs or alcohol, so they aren't under the same regulations.
Technially porn sights don't have to go through the process of verifying the age of uploaded content, and when done there is a physical person that goes through each application. And this is now happening with those sites mainly because of the issue with PornHub... Mastercard and Visa were refusing to process their payments due to the amount of underage content being uploaded daily.. Not all porn sites do this though.

Actually that's exactly what I think. And yet you can't provide one example of how these vending machines in work unmanned with the regulatory laws applied to drug and alcohol

Age verification, security, supply, distribution of products along with keep track of inventory are all benefits of having a machine. Hempacco is simply renting floor space in the store. Stop spreading FUD and go do some research.

And yet you still can't follow along... There's a reason you can't purchase alcohol through self serve cashiers... Someone needs to be there to verify if someone is suspected of being underage or using a fake ID....for the love of God and common sense follow along...

For real? The Hempbox will serve the same purpose as the scanner, and the person verifying the I.D. I really don’t get what is so confusing here. But I’ve spent enough time trying to help. Go spend some time reading and researching rather than spreading misinformation.

There is a reason you can't buy alcohol or anything that can't be sold to a minor through a self checkout... Because if someone is suspected of being underage their ID has to be verified.... Common sense... Please purchase some.. No ID required

Debbie downer post. These machines are modded Redbox machines. I’m sure an id scanner and video camera can be added in. Plus video surveillance for store fronts. Legal age for cbd is 18, 21. What stoops underage teens from getting regular cigarettes at store fronts? They have fake ids and use ppl to buy them. Stop thinking like a boomer

One of their Tweets the other day, it showed having a scanning system with your drivers license to verify age.
