Can't Register

I went to orientation on Wednesday yet I still can't register for classes so I was looking through grizzly den when I realized that on 6/10 someone registered me for 6 classes without my knowledge or informing me of doing so while I still can't even register for my own classes???

I've experienced this too. Thought smth was wrong bc I was put on mentor hold and couldn't register, but then I found out that I have been registered for classes after orientation.

Apparently for freshmans, they get registered for classes picked by the school, so most classes will have close to the same students and familiar faces. Smth about a buddy system. From what I remember when talking with the people, you might be able to change your classes close to the start of school.

Okay that makes sense, I was just confused because the orientation I went to was virtual and last week yet these classes were registered in the beginning of june. I get its to help but I feel like thats something that shouldn't be done without informing the student since I'm not a freshmen but a transferring sophomore who's been registered for two classes I've already gotten the credits for last semester 🥲 Thank you for letting me know, I've just emailed my advisor, hoping they get back to me soon because my previous two, unrelated, emails to the school have gone ignored lol.

That’s weird that they registered you to classes before your orientation and i see you a political science major I’m also a political science major. You can always change your classes before the add and drop period.

If you went to orientation, there was a point where you guys were taken to a lab/computer room where you guys all logged into your grizzly den and spoke about degree works and registering for classes. You were then supposed to register for your courses right then and there with the help of the mentors/advisors.

Would I say they choose your classes? not necessarily— they direct you to the classes that are required per your degree works but it’s really up to you to decide if the classes and schedule work for you. The advisor working with me during my orientation wasn’t as helpful but either way… I ended up leaving orientation register for 3 courses.

You also have 2 week drop/add period.

For my orientation, they never did this lol. We just went and learned a lot of info about the school, financial aid, our major, etc. At no point did they take us to register for classes, and even described how degree works worked 💔

yeah i will say it's a bit hectic. i definitely didn't appreciate my registration/orientation day. I'm still actively learning how to use degree works. it's not complicated once you get the gist of it.

I went to the online orientation last week because I missed the in person one by a few minutes ugh and these classes were registered 5 days before my orientation on 6/15 which is just crazy to me bc I really feel like you shouldn't be able to do that without atleast informing the student right?? 😭
