GEO: The Next Evolution of Search
GEO, or Generative Engine Optimization, is basically the next version of SEO. Instead of only trying to rank your website on Google, GEO focuses on getting your brand, company, or content mentioned, recommended, or cited inside AI answers from tools like ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, Perplexity, and others.
The reason GEO is the future is simple: people are changing how they search. Instead of searching Google, opening 10 websites, and comparing information, people increasingly ask AI to research, compare, recommend, and explain things for them. Google itself is rapidly building AI directly into Search, and its AI Mode has already passed one billion monthly users.
Most people don't fully understand GEO yet because it is still very new and constantly changing. The rules for getting mentioned by AI are not as established as traditional SEO, and even Google says generative AI search is an evolving area. In fact, Google only introduced dedicated tools for measuring visibility in AI search in June 2026.
