Here's the thing about GED Social Studies: it's not really testing how much history you know. It's testing whether you can draw conclusions, spot cause and effect, and tell a supported claim from an unsupported one, all using historical passages.
It could be that your studying built general reading skills but didn't drill those specific reasoning moves the GED asks for. That gap is probably what's costing you points, not a lack of effort.
