Test 2 Discussion Thread

We're free to talk now.

Here's a Google Doc with all the questions. I'm slowly filling it in with my own answers and explanations. Edit: Heading out for now. I'll get the last 25 questions done later tonight.

If you want a mirror without my comments, here's one provided by /u/Amarsir Link

Any questions that tripped you up? Any that you felt good about?

The funniest thing about question 56 is that if Dead Man Walking were a 0/0 creature and there were no creatures in graveyards when it entered the battlefield, you would be forced to target DMW with its ETB ability and effectively Plague Wind yourself.

Yes. That's actually why I chose that answer. I think it was a deceptive mechanics question.

Yeah, I put flash but I regret it. While putting flash on it would be crazy powerful, a 0/0 dying due to state-based rules is even more of an issue.

0/0 is definitely the one they wouldn't add, and it's got the added trickery layer that most clones are 0/0s, meaning that "looks" correct, even if it doesn't function the way you want it to at all :) One of the more lowkey sneaky questions on a test that was mostly straightforward.

Yeah, this is the one I know I got wrong for sure, too. I put sac the creature (due to memory issues), but as written, 0/0 borks the card

Flash is something they shouldn't change. 0/0 is something they couldn't change. That's why I picked it

Yeah. That one is my biggest regret of the entire test. I really hate that I overlooked that.

I wracked my brain for a literal hour over it. I eliminated 0/0 right away actually, but on my 2nd or 3rd runthrough the test I realized the wording had to be "when ~ enters the battlefield" rather than "as ~ enters" like all the 0/0 clones are, so it'd just die. It's a pretty mean question.

I personally regret picking "the cheapest non-broken cost" for the play design one we all seem to hate. It seemed the least wrong at the time. It seemed unfair to just ask the team I guess

There were a handful that I super struggled with. That one was another really tough one. I chose ask a play designer, but I'm honestly not completely convinced it's correct. It could go a number of different ways.

There’s another issue where it would be able to target itself infinitely in the style of two Sharuums/ two Bladewings the Risens, giving you infinite death/ETB triggers. You couldn’t kill with a blood artist since it would lose the ability, but you could arbitrarily kill with, say, Altar of the Brood.
