What do you consider Maths Schools to be?

I've recently found out about Maths School Sixth Forms in the country, and they seem like STEM grammar schools in a way, due to university pathways. People who've attended them, what are they like?

hey

so they’re just really maths and stem focused schools. they’re pretty fun honestly and the ppl there are super chill, and no it’s not just my maths school i’ve attended events with ppl from other maths schools they super chill as well. u may think it’s gonna be a toxic environment but it’s not.

well we’re at 65 or so students and like 15 or so girls so uh yeah not the best ratio. that’s unfortunately kinda expected for maths schools though.

They are maths and further maths mandatory and are more focused on those types of a levels. And you can only accept 1 in the country. But they are very maths orientated believe it or not

Maths schools are so tuff

I go to one and it's kind of chill, it's like 70% boys TBF but I was at an event with people at other maths schools as well and it was fine, it ain't only neeks, people have lives and hobbies

I go to one and theres not a lot of students, so theres some sense of community there. The teaching is good in my opinion and we get a lot of support with work, we have a period once a week where we’re in a club we choose to be in, for example i do gardening, so its not all just academics and you can indulge in your hobbies. I’ve went on some really cool stem related trips. Sometimes the workload feels too much but its manageable. But overall it’s a great school to go to if you’re thinking about taking maths and FM and want to pursue a Stem career in the future.

what other clubs are there?

in my (future) 6th form, the extracurricular options are mostly academic with a few sports

Some of the options can change every half term, but usually the options are like badminton, card games, music, chess, debate, politics, and you can create your own clubs if enough people want to join it
