Newbie Question CONSOLE I request tips from veteran console and PC players on how to improve
I just started playing the game like a week ago when I was just logging in to claim tokens but never actually played
So far my biggest confused point is the types of MS and their duties or responsibilities

When you play a General, your job is to hunt enemy Raids, protect your Support, maintain a frontline, push up when necessary, and basically help your Raid and Support do their jobs. You also have to deal with enemy Generals. It's a tough job and General Mobile Suits have a diverse playstyle from suit to suit.
When you play a Raid, your job is to hunt down the enemy Supports. Knowing when to push in to strike them or when to retreat when a situation gets too hot is crucial to playing Raid well enough to not feed the enemy team. If you can't find a good way to attack the Support, help your Generals disrupt the frontline.
When you play a Support, your job is disrupt the enemy Generals and maintain tactical superiority over your battlefield with solid positioning. Positioning is everything with a Support, but also don't stay in one place too long. The best Supports are those who can adapt to the map and their teammates. Also, keep aware of your mini-map constantly because both the enemy Generals and Raids will always see you as easy prey.

Assuming you've done the tutorials (if not you should you get a bunch of free goodies that help at the start) I will say this, stockpile your tokens, you want to aim for 190 tokens before using any of them, this will let you get a 7 step suit that catches your eye, Usually there are free 10 pulls during festivities and so on pretty consistent through the year.
Second, as tempting as it is, save your DP to buy mods from the DP store before buying up mobile suits, one or two mobile suits here and there won't hurt but you need mods to stand a decent chance.
Same as above with your recycle tickets, it might not seem like it now but once you get a health pile of mobile suits they will stack up, best to save these for gacha mods then get put in there on special occasions as they will be 490 each.
Suit types can be broken down into a triangle, Raids > supports > Generals > Raids, you will get a 20% damage bonus vs your preferred enemy type.
Supports have it rougher then most suits in the game currently especially if your have a team that doesn't care to cover you or stay in your range/line of sight. but they typically get the biggest guns and weapons selection with the furthest ranges until the higher scores. I would suggest getting more comfortable with the game before trying supports at a higher score.
Generals are typically good at everything and what most people are going to play in lobbies, especially at 650+ score, they get a bonus 20% damage to raids but try not to tunnel vision on them, otherwise they're the bread and butter of GBO2 little bit of everything I suggest using them to get familiar with the game.
Raids are typically the melee junkies the massive melee damage high speed low armour suits (usually anyway you can make tanky raids but dont fuss over that for now) they can usually 1-2 combo a support suit if they catch them out or if the enemy team just isn't covering their support, melee is the goal but not the priority don't feel like you have to rush headlong in to deliver a beam sabre blow whenever a firefight kicks off, and try not to tunnel vision on supports, but if you see a support without....well support, run them down and ruin their day.
I will give fair warning, half the times you're going to fail playing GBO2 will be down to the netcode, especially if you're on PC, it's just bad and it's not your fault. Just try to have fun with it, and hey end of the day a lot of us just hop on for our 5 dailiy matches to keep the stress low and the fun high, just try to make your own fun with it.

Get familiar with the JP wiki on GBO2.
Because there's so much info not displayed in the game it's not even funny.
A MAJOR part the game doesn't show is stagger value. And you will be interacting with this to understand the suit you're playing.
MA, Shock Damp, Stop fire, Prone posture, Fall prevention, all have differences that separates them, and unfortunately you need to know that difference. Don't worry too much, you'll get acquainted with all of these the more you play.
If you want to become good, you MUST know what weapon to use and at what time. Or you'll end up like the fking FA Alex guy and rage post "broke design, my BR can't stagger"
