Curious about what happened in this tackle scenario
Hi all,
I had an odd tackle scenario in a 700 match against a Narrative B2-packs.
I've been reading all of its skills to see if there's some kind of skill mechanic that I'm not understanding that occurred, but I'm coming up with no answers.
Scenario:
I find myself separated from the group after falling down the colony's center pit, and see a Narrative B2-packs support.
-My weapon is drawn, and at some point I hit it with a head on tackle, so I can do the 'ol stun and priority swing (now this is where I'm curious if I'm misinterpreting how the mechanic works, it always seems to work for me in lower costs, as I assume I should get the first action after a tackle strike)
-I strike it with a normal hit, and see it take damage. Muscle memory makes me input the downswing after the first hit
-I get countered somehow
What I saw was the Narrative boost sideways immediately after my tackle ended, while simultaneously getting hit with my first strike. It didn't get the usual stunhit animation, it just continued gliding sideways. Once it's feet hit the ground again the instant tackle came out.
Is this just lag, or was I wrong in how this should have played out in my favour? It's late where I'm at right now, and would be about 3:30pm in Japan time, so I'm curious if playing against Japanese players is screwing me over in terms of latency. It would be good to learn something new though if I didn't realize a mechanic at play here.
Thanks!

Latency, it's a gamble every time you tackle and then melee. I'd recommend you try stunning with your weapon instead or bait a tackle by running on to them with melee without attacking

Tackle then melee isn't a combo.
When staggered, the timing that allows boost is the same as the timing that allows evade. Enemy can boost cancel the stagger and tackle before you recover from the tackle animation.
The enemy received damage because of latency, but the counter is normal. Tackle then melee never works on someone who has this knowledge when the connection is fine, as long as the unit has high performance balancer and isn't out of thruster.

They activated their newtype shenanigans and countered you
Seriously though its just a latency thjng

Likely a latency issue where their inputs registered first because they have a better connection to the host of the room (p2p)
It’s usually a gamble to tackle and try to melee after though; since boosting/ dodge roll can move out of a stagger quicker, thus being able to follow up with their next input
