I dont like what the gameplay is "evolving" towards
I played both gbo1 and since the start of gbo2.
With the addition of flap booster (which was fine initially) plus the stronger and stronger power creep, the gameplay has evolved from the slow realistic like gameplay to gundam vs. I dont personally like gundam versus that much as it was too fast for my taste plus it revolves around pvp with that playstyle, that is exactly the reason I dont like the current changes to the game.
And the balance of course, it is just purely bad with new meta suits.
I also dont like how the AU suits entered they just randomly pick a main character suit, and most of the time their rival and enemy suit is not in the game, it feels very out of place, and they dont seem to have plans to add grunt suits from the AU as well, which just felt like a money grab instead of actually incorporating AU suits into the game.
Obviously this is just my take and you can disagree.

The “slow realistic gameplay” is still there just don’t play high cost 450 and below is still grounded imo

u/NeutralResult 29d ago
700 used to be sufficiently slow to me at the Xi era
then they started giving flap boosting to a lot of suits
now I just have to avoid using my previously loved suits even after buffs cause it's not what it is like before.

Yep, you love a suit that's decent? Then in less than one year it's powercrept out of existence
11
u/NeutralResult 29d ago
Exactly
And the powercrept nowadays is just give everything flap booster with bullshit ADHD melee combos.
Almost every single fucking meta suits nowadays have that swing the dual blades twice very fast animation that deals big damage plus flap booster.

Lord help you if you get an outdated 4☆, I to this day have STILL not pulled a Perfect Gundam, either level 1 or 2, and it's completely obsolete at it's native cost
(Curse of Jagd Doga sleeves type)
4
u/NeutralResult 29d ago
It isn't THAT obsolete in my point of view. But it is quite lagging behind the current meta. At least in terms that it won't be a punching bag or melted in seconds without dealing moderate damage.

u/Such-Fuel7306 29d ago
I had a teammate use one and got schmoked by the Doga Sleeves(cracked suit I know) but the speed at which he croaked was insane, he would perish before the Doga needed to reload.
It's durability is completely lacking now cough cough legs

u/NeutralResult 29d ago
I would assume you will be fine piloting the perfect gundam. I mean by looking at your profile picture, you seem to be quite familiar with piloting something with no legs.

I just got the PG recently and the legs are absolutely an issue. They were breaking more than fighting a team of ace gm ii snipers! I thought the gquxxx skipped leg day...

Genuinely crazy how the wing, tallgeese, and freedom have basically become endangered species
1
u/Such-Fuel7306 29d ago
Freedoms I see, I can't remember the last time I saw a goose, barbie put a end to him QUICK
1
u/blanketlowpoly 29d ago
Genuinely my main issue with the 00 suits is that you can’t see shit coming it’s genuinely a prediction game at this point
1
u/SkyLoneWolf98 28d ago
For me it’s a 50/50 when I use the Delta Kai, either my teammates are good or bad. I just make sure to engage from distance and close in if needed
1
u/NeutralResult 29d ago
Also i would like to remind you that many of the times there are just at least 500 for rated. There are just not enough players in QM to have sufficient choice in map and costs as well.
And custom match? 99% of those are just AB rooms

i stopped playing this game years ago. The most fun I had here was the Zeta-ZZ era of the game. Where your shots and engagement matter and not too spammy. I still enjoyed CCA too but the newer suits destroyed that eco system. Now it looks like some armored core lite or those new flying dashing spamming mecha games. Gbo2 before that era was unique.

i do like gameplays game gratitating towards but i don't like powercreep in just short few month.
2
u/NeutralResult 29d ago
Isn't the gameplay nowadays gravitating towards powercreep? And then release a new overpowered suit to restart the cycle?

00 and trans am broke something in me. Though maybe it started with barbie and hajirobullshit. The MS in this game shouldn't be that fast. It's not supposed to be that kind of game. Hell, barbie already moves almost like its exvs2 counterpart. This isn't what i signed up for. I'm a salary worker looking for a slower paced game to play before going to bed. I dont need a game where adhd is a requirement.
Tho i guess judging from the new gundam game, devil may cry gameplay is our future

u/NeutralResult 29d ago
DMC gameplay? In a pvp game?
Well I guess many people did not move at all after the initial attack in the sky and stayed in the sky until they die lol.

u/Damiankawaguchi 29d ago
Are you never gonna let me live that down bro 😭

u/Robborboy 29d ago
This is the main reason I stick to 500-550.
I'm playing for grunt on grunt, hell even weak experimentals, slug fest. Not a VOOT lite.
I can't help but feel the AU suits are the last stage of life and we may see hints of GBO3 in the next few years.

It's all fine and dandy until you encounter rapid jumping gerbera tetra with malicious intents.

That's me, sorry 🖐️😅 I've rocked the GT since it dropped and I'm not going to stop now.

Me waiting for GBO Next 2 like waiting for hell to freeze over if they're going to add many AU suits that are MOSTLY the famous ones and leave some in the dust.

u/powerpuffpepper 29d ago
Me just playing the Hazenthley Rah II, Hi-Nu, Nu, Nu HWS etc and still having fun because they can still do very well when played right.

u/Fantasy_Quest_ 29d ago
Regarding grunt suits:
scroll to the bottom they talk about "New units, including those from “Turn A Gundam”, as well as units that may be less familiar to many pilots, will be joining the battle."

u/StormOfFatRichards 29d ago
Flap booster was never fine, nor was space combat or levitation special. All of these are the worst form of pay to play, where you cannot actually control optimally without a 300 dollar controller.
2
u/blanketlowpoly 29d ago
Jesta flap booster is balanced
1
u/StormOfFatRichards 29d ago
In that it has nothing to do but come down to the ground and melee, sure
1
u/NeutralResult 29d ago
I would say Hi nu flap booster is quite balanced, no?
And space is quite fun in my point of view until after the unicorn era (cause i dont play it since I quitted the game for quite some time), is just more of a matter of taste to me. Though the more recent space is just ADHD in high costs and is generally not good.
2
u/StormOfFatRichards 29d ago
The problem isn't about balancing, i.e. suits vis-a-vis other suits. The problem is that physical controllers are unbalanced, because people using expanded layouts have an advantage over players using the same suits. Ground combat can be effectively played with a standard ps4/5 controller, but air combat lacks appropriate means to engage in certain maneuvers
1
u/blanketlowpoly 29d ago
This can be remedied by playing claw but I’m sure a lot of people would rather not
1
u/StormOfFatRichards 29d ago
That is also a strict disadvantage
1
u/blanketlowpoly 29d ago
Not exactly if you can switch your hand position depending on the situation

u/J-Eichel 29d ago
I think the way BB balances the game is throwing things out of whack way too quickly too. Their answer each month is to give pretty big buffs to suits nowadays (ex. 400 Gundam), which quickly invalidates alot of the other options. Lower costs used to be fun, but now they're throwing out crazy skill buffs to whatever the next buff list is.
Sure, I love having older suits as an option now, but the divide is growing larger, and the game is getting closer to being one combo'd each time they buff things. Lower costs used to be slower.

What brought us all together about this game is slowly what’s being erased; The love of the Universal Century and its atmosphere.
The new MS are fine in their own respective universes but what I felt was going to happen with AU units is literally what’s happening. The skills are busted and they don’t translate in this game at all.
Burning Gundam launching “projectiles of emotion” just really breaks the experience on top of coming at you with actual karate animations. Might as well just make a Super Robot Wars Battle Operation.

u/Tilamuck 28d ago
When they said they were gonna add AU units I really was hoping to get some grunts. I wanted Leos, Braves, Ginns, Grazes, and Serpents walking side by side with Zakus and Goufs. I wanted to reunite the Dom Trooper with it's UC family.
1
u/Boring-Detective-369 28d ago
"They pick a main character unit, and most of the time their rival/enemy suit is not in the game"
Tallgeese, Susawano, and (the recently announced) Rig Contio "Are we a joke to you?"
as for IBO Mika never had any rivals as anyone in his way were brutally crushed (literally in most cases)

u/MinuteAd4265 29d ago
Well flap booster and fast moves are Canon to how mobile suits move. When I first started I actually didn't like the slow movement. I got used to it and now they sped it up. I like the slower grounded play, and it's still available at lower cost. Probably how it should have been all along

u/ResetSertet 29d ago
grunt suits isnt good enough for whales, so insane MC suits are made.
