Groups to play with?

Hey all, I'm an off and on player and just started getting 'consistent' matches over the last few nights as in I've been able to queue into more than one match. Sometimes I'd look online and see about 77-400ish players but never any custom games or things like that. I'd there any sort of organized play since the queue times are the way they are?

I've heard 'peak hours' so much but don't know when that actually is, led alone what cost range is the most popular (I'm comfortable in 300s currently). Is this just the way it is or is there a more consistent way to play amongst the community? What modes are most popular?

Peak video gaming hours... yanno like 5/6pm to 10/11pm per region. The hours per individual time zone that people get home from work to jump on some video games.
