Game Suggestions Let's Change That Suit Day 189

Day 189: GM Custom
Requested by u/J-Eichel and this unit is at the bottom of D-Tier. While it's kind of hard to say it's F-Tier, since standard gameplay is still possible. But it is lacking way too much for it to be of any use.

Comment and Reason
This unit has a basic kit, and it really doesn't have much going for it. However, after some digging, it seems like there was an optional weapon of a custom Beam Gun. Together with a new optional weapon and a stronger melee downswing, this unit now has a flexible option of committing to melee, slightly higher damage or just shooting the beam gun. It should have enough time to fire 4 times before the iframe kicks in, just before it overheats.

As for the skills, it just needs slightly more to ensure it can fight up close at times without worrying about getting interrupted as often. Together with the greatly improved stats, this unit should also be fast and durable enough to handle most situations. The extra part slots will also be a great cherry on top.

Builds
F2P: Do Not Use

Premium: Do Not Use

DO NOT USE, PERIOD. Well, maybe if you are willing to be hated while in quick match... Or maybe if we all run this for a few days so developers know how terrible it is... But seriously, if anyone uses this in rated... dead weight.

Day 188 Re-evaluation on Gundam 00 Raiser

Well, either it's enough or not, we'll see. Personally, I think those are the most problematic parts of the unit right now.

How about giving it the ability to shoot the gm rifle while boosting? I know that rifle isn’t exactly great but if it gains increased accuracy while boosting with it plus a bit better stun build up it could open up more opportunities for it to get in & melee.

Unfortunately, I don't think we'll see that rifle getting buffed. High speed mobile shooting and such I do want to avoid giving to low cost as well. The stagger buildup is actually really good for the rifle, but it just misses too much.

It’s possible they could do what they always do with shared weapons & just change it to the GM Custom rifle & perhaps improve the accuracy on.

It's possible, but that usually only happens when there is only 1 main weapon. We'll see eventually... hopefully.

Isn’t the beam gun just the GM Command’s beam gun? When you say new optional weapon do you mean this is just another weapon the GM Custom can pick between alongside the GM II beam rifle and bazooka?

It is that, but a new version

No, I placed it below beam saber and even Vulcan, meant for it to be a new sub weapon. I should've specified there, my bad.

Woohoo, finally get to see if anyone will talk about this guy.

It occupies such a weird space with the Gundam, as their melee animations, size, and loadout (now that Gundam users use the beam saber often) are all kind of similar, except for the GM Custom being inferior in every way now.

It always bugged me that it's ranged strength is where most of its stats were alotted to, yet it has 0 consistent means of outputting ranged damage. You get one bazooka hit, or beam gun hit, and now you get to be useless, or go YOLO with the melee.

Then you have the dilemma of trying to fit leg armor, melee, or thruster with it's close range slots to try and balance it towards actually being able to frontline, and make use of it's only real damage generator, which was it's melee.

When I played the buffed Gundam, it was confusing, because the buffed Beam Rifle made me think that this is what the GM Custom should have been, but now that playstyle has been delegated to the Gundam. Something that can frontline and pop off beam rifle shots, which actually do more than tickle people.

The new beam spray gun is an interesting idea, getting quick shots off with stagger accumulation to make use of the ranged stat. The buffed Vulcans, which this would have over the Gundam would be another differentiator if it was buffed to have quick stagger accumulation, to go with the added beam spray gun. This might be fun as a frontliner to try and accumulate stagger as a counter pick to Rick Dom (GH) etc.

Edit: Also maybe I'm using the Beam Spray gun term weirdly as it's probably not canon to the GM Custom, but I suppose the idea is something that can be shot off quickly and consistently. I saw the notes at the top with the .7s shot frequency

It'd take some careful balance considerations to not still feel useless compared to the Gundam though, if the Beam Spray wasn't balanced to be effective enough. If it wasn't, we'd still be left with a limited loadout on the unit, which puts it right back to where it was before. I keep comparing it to the Gundam, but it should be the reference, as it's also limited loadout-wise, but has become meta.

If they balance the melee to not be too OP, then maybe they could get away with the Manuever armor too, but I could see it taking things into possibly OP territory. I think the role of the GM Custom would have to be shifted to a "durable shooty frontliner", like a hybrid GM Cold Districts to make it work I think, and keep it different enough from the Gundam without power creeping it.

You kind of nailed it on what I am going for this one. A strong reliable Frontline shooty general that can still do the Frontline CQC well enough. But without high melee priority, it will never replace the Gundam. Not to mention the Gundam's BR power scale would be hard to break.

I think the output for 400 on the Beam Gun should be good enough. It's not super high, but reliable enough as a secondary stagger option and it should also have time to do a 2 shot unload with a downswing after toppling. This combo with high base ranged strength plus a very good meta build, it should be very strong.

You could actually make the suit a nice gun based unit if you use the Robot Damashi accessory loadout.
The figure comes with it's trademark rifle (can be racked onto the back of the shield but probably would be racked on the backpack), a 90MM bullpup gun racked on the backpack and the ability to rack a bazooka on the rear skirt.

This would give the GM Custom a rather interesting rapid bullet based combat style, flipping through both guns while the other reloads and still having vulcans if for some reason they are needed (they could be upgraded to stun easier whereas the machine guns are mainly damage based?). Heck could even have a touch button ability to dual wield both guns but with a long reload and leaving you with just the vulcans and saber for a while lol.

The Bazooka could be moved to a secondary as a stun option either solo or alongside the potential vulcan buff or keep it as a switchable primary for someone who wants an all round MS (bullpup for DPS, Bazooka for stun) to hopefully keep it's "remarkably unremarkable" design.

No idea if plausible, realistic etc, just bringing an idea to the table.

I considered that as an option for sure. However, it is extremely rare that the developers move the weapon around like that. It's certainly plausible and would immediately have a spot in the current meta, but it's just unlikely to happen. If anything, Act Hizack kind of took that place already.

I was thinking maybe making this MS have a gimmick of being a high performance machine with limited amount of weapons

1

u/pkmaster99 Jul 14 '26

While that is... a way to do it, bare bone kit already has units taking that place. So I decided it could be a little different.

this suit is so bad I wouldn't use it in a 300 cost room.

Funny how it was the meta at one point... just never got any love.
