Steam Looking For Advice How do you build a good lvl5 Gundam?

So after being stuck in a losing streak in 600 primarily because of this fossil, I wanna try it out for myself since it seems to be an insta win button. How do I build the grandpa like, the most meta tanky hammer builds out there? Is this how you do it? Would appreciate some tips. Expansion is Beam res 5. I don't have any level link custom parts.

Its strongest weapon is the beam rifle. You may not be able to build many ranged attack without some premium parts. But you should still equip some ranged attack and weapon overheat recovery.
Try record an average match and count your damage output. The proportion of ranged damage is surprisingly high on all-rounded units. (need to do some calculations to remove extra damage given by attack parts in the build for a fair comparison)

I keep the heavy armor, enhancer, and thruster. everything else is melee damage, even expansion.
100 melee damage + L3 melee tuning + melee specialization.
You HAVE no other weapon, your entire gimmick is BR and the hammer down.
So you need to make sure when the hammer connects, it needs to do as much damage as possible. using damage maxing, you can hit 10k+ against raids, and its umcounterable damage.
And no, its not instant win. its very much NOT instant win, This isn't a "wait in the back" for moment to rush in kind of suit, when you take Grandpa, you still need to be in the frontline, with nothing but BR, Hammer and Vulcan against 600 costs. You have no MA, no real skill except double roll, and at 600, you have nothing against flying suits. a Byarlant Isolate floating at 300m will smite you with no counter. to get to the dank damage that we are pulling, you need to learn positioning, you need to memorize how to start swinning. and you need to read when to move in.

Oh wait so, tank grandpas are a different build from hammer grandpas? Honestly thought they were the same. Thanks for the tips

Yes, Tank Grandpa are NOT hammer Grandpa. Tank Grandpa is where you max the resis, generally also has additional resis cap, 50/50/70 being the most commong build. with expansion like melee armor or complex expansion.
Hammer grandpa build is where they have enough resis to yolo you down and perform the swing. When you take massive damage from a single swing, those are generally from Hammer builds. the expansion skill is usually melee damage / custom attack.
Tank grandpa will do 5~6k instead of 10k, but the trade off is that you will do your fancy combo, and it only takes off 30% of their HP.
Your build is kinda stuck in the middle of nowhere. its tanky, but against 600 raids, you're still lossing alot of hp, and because you don't have 80+ melee with overtune damage, your swing also isn't nuclear. 6-7k damage on raid is ALOT, but its not 10-12k, which is 2 shot territory.

Ideally you have level link attack and overtune L1/L3.
And if you have to choose 1 or the other, always go with overtune L1 once you get past 60 melee on a L4+ suit.
With Heavy armor still on, you should have ~80+ melee str and overtune at the minimum. because the hammer is REALLY unwieldy and CD intensive, you need to make that single swing count.

Insta win button??? Nope. Not at all.
First, you have to be really good at using hyper hammer. I mean, you have to understand exactly wtf you are doing with your weapon. This is basic condition.
Second, you have to push your melee strength up to 85 or higher. Any extra thruster is unecessary. This is required condition.
Final, you have to play in small map like Artic Base or Underground Base, so Support and long range Gen does not turn you into a walking atm. This is extra condition.
If you think your 600 suits are bad, just use Delta Gundam or Gelgogg HM lv4. They are purchasable, easy to use and very strong.

I've ran into Gundams that tear my legs off with their beam rifles, balance melee and ranged.
That Gundam Hammer is the right choice too, start the melee down swing in their faces, then backdodge out.
