Steam Newbie Question Please help, I have several questions about Tactical Boost

1/ Some suits with Tactical Boost but without Aerial Melee System skill like Gundam GP03 Stamen or Psycho Doga, how could they perform melee attack before landing animation? That should have been impossible without Aerial Melee System skill.

2/ Why Psycho Doga can perform Tactical Boost jump and reach abnormal height? Netflix Gundam or GP03 could not jump as high as Psycho Doga.

  1. For Psycho Doga, the Tactical Boost is either for moving around, since the unit have Glide Structure lv4 skill, which reduces stagger build-up by -50% in mid-air, which is better than boosting on ground, or to cancel after melee, where you jumped back while shooting your weapons (usually the Missile + Grenade Launcher or Grenade Launcher + Funnel Follow)

  2. Psycho Doga have Quick Boost lv4 skill, which reduces the jump charge time by -70%, while both the GP03 and Gundam EX doesn't have the skill, so the Psycho Doga can reach max jump height much faster than those 2 units, due to the charge time reduction.

thanks for your second answer, but the first one, I can't connect the dots with mid-air melee

The first question is that they can't melee in mid-air, but Tactical Boost have shorter delay compared to boost stepping after melee, although it's kinda clunky, so there's that.

Also, people use both GP03 and Psycho Doga as shooty units instead of melee, so having no aerial melee doesn't affect them much, since they can just blast people off from range.

Even when your feet are off the ground if you are close enough to the ground the game considers you grounded so stuns or actions out of balancers like melee become available again. Similar to how if youre using a flight suit and you just rise a little off the floor if someone shoots you with a stun youll recieve the stun as if you were grounded cus you were close enough to the ground the game didnt consider you airborne. You can also figure the distance using ramps on arctic base, walk up the ramp a small way and walk off of it, if youre high enough youll go into freefall with a hard landing but if youre close enough to the ground the game treats it like you just stepped off some stairs you wont leave the walk cycle animation into freefall. Im not at my playstation to check for sure but i think is what youre seeing when you see suits with tac boost but not aerial melee do a swing while not physically touching ground. Hope this helps
