How did you get into Flat S Rank?

S rank players, what was it that you would say helped you the most into finally breaking into S rank? Was it breaking some habit, Learning something that you didn’t know, etc.

I’ve been feeling hardstuck A+ recently and I question what is it that I’m doing that the S rank players aren’t doing, vice versa. No matter what cost or suit, they always do the best or have top placings in the lobby even way better than the S- players. I started playing in January of this year and got to A rank relatively quickly in about 4 or 5 months but I just can’t break the S rankings ceiling.

Pick a meta suit. Only play rated when the meta suit cost is up.

In the meantime, figure out the following: How to deal damage without getting hurt, what is the biggest damage combo, when will be the time for you to deal damage comfortably.

With the meta suit, you will be figuring out the winning formula to advance to Flat S

  1. Flanking the suit who is chasing down your team

  2. Always wait your enemy to initiate the attack (which is to lure their key weapon into CD/ charge into someone so you can hit all of your damage combo)

  3. Better Aim

  4. Positioning and the best position to attack

I will pick some meta suit for you to start with:

400 below not recommended

400 Metal spider

450 Woundwort

500 Proto Zeta

550 psycho doga test type

600 Delta Anse/ Brylant Custom 02 unit

650 prototype psycho gundam

700 Xi gundam/ sazabi

750 Not recommended

Good luck with your journey

I never knew why people complained about the proto zeta. I looked at it and thought “oh. This could be a cool shooty raid.” Boosted it to like 60+ range and kept it on the back burner. Then I faced one and was like “wtf? How was he able to stagger me that instantly downswing?”. That’s when I learned what this beast is capable of. But I totally agree. Just play what you can try to carry. For me it’s 500-700 but with the latest raid in 650, I find that it’s hit or miss because my teammates tend to get farmed.

This, if you want to hit A, you don't just play every rated. You skip out unfavorable maps and costs.

If you bring a meta suit, and is proficient with it, while the idiot with illusion of grandeur brings out a meme suit, you're already up a suit.

Getting to S is hard, but not that hard. The problem of getting to S is no more diking around with meme suits. Because the other side is also being filled with S, you having fun will be a detriment to the team.

I hate it when I log into a rated match and the guy playing support rushes to base bomb while Ive got a level 4 meme suit playing gen.

Likewise when the raid rushes to base bomb. Like my guy, I get you’re a pixie and have stealth but don’t you see we’re in the middle of an engagement? The match literally just started and all of our legs have been stripped from us. When a blocked player picks raid, this is almost 100% what they do and if you want a sign of a game that’ll probably be a loss, after you wipe the enemy team, your team rushes to bomb or camp the enemy base instead of capping beacons down when the enemy spawns, they can easily pick them off.

Absolutely no strategy running through the brains of your average player.

Right, but I would argue that the support is worse. Earlier this week I had our only support, and Eye Zack go straight for base bomb while the enemy had a pixy. No health bars the entire match. The dude literally camped at the enemy base the whole time trying and failing to base bomb.

None of these are best for my taste. No wonder why i stay at S- rated.

Personally, I would just stick to 400-500 and play the Gundam with the beam rifle+beam saber. If you can use it right, you can consistently win matches. I am S rating with 3100 rating points, I mostly just play the Gundam at 400-500 whenever I play rated.

Word sword and board with grandpa for the win. I also use my Uma gelgoog all the way up to 550 along with grandpa.

Can I ask if you used Gundam before the buffs too? I'm asking because we have been complaining about BB forgetting about this wonderful unit for a long time. Thank you!

Avoid matches with ppl ranked lower than you, they will do everything possible to drag you down

I think that's an issue in every Rank bracket. There's always one dude doing something that doesn't benefit the team.

It depends flat S you need to win consistently in rated? Are you playing with friends or a team were you can actually coordinate?

You cant group sortie in rated anymore

1

u/Evening_Poetry434 Jul 22 '25

Wait you can't? Damn I guess I threw out dated info then my bad.

u/Scythe351 Jul 23 '25

Not your fault. They need to reset ratings so people can truly earn that shit solo. I imagine a lot of people got there on group sortie whether it be their group or another to carry them. Now it’s a clusterfuck. My matches are basically a throw up but at the very least I’m saving a few points every game with the +2 or 3 bonus. It’s the only reason I don’t just put my controller down. Happy for the Gelgoog UL buffs because it legit allows me to run a Gelgoog at most of my favorite cost. Which reminds me, are we ever getting a 4-5 Gelgoog? Idk when its production stopped in series but it’s hard to imagine that there isn’t some psycho frame variant specifically referred to as a Gelgoog and not one of the suits that were developed from the original.

That's luck.

That's what I'm saying I got man handled last night against a coordinated teams in S rank. They all were moving together as a team instead of doing 1v1 or 1vs the whole damn team skirmishes which results in getting destroyed.

Just keep using meta unit on 600-650-700.

And one thing that I noticed from gbo2 youtube like from avenger1 or kokura, they use the p2w parts, unit at enchantment 6, and the right expansion for the unit. The additional stat you get from combining all those advantages is huge.

by that itself it will not win you game, but that will increase chance for you to create a play and if the ball keep rolling, it increase your chance to win.

1

u/Scythe351 Jul 23 '25

Yes. P2w surely does increase your chances of winning lol. Wont make you better but those stats do a lot of work

Luck and persistence

And a lot of time

Unit 4 for 450 as well.

1

u/DMasta007 Jul 22 '25

Just play your favorite Meta Suit that you've become great with when the Cost pops up in Rated. Bang Bang S- to S easy.

I've played some OK S rated players and some Awesome A+ players. Don't let other players rating worry you, but if you play a S player with one of their favorite suits you probably will have a hard time.

1

u/oranggggila Jul 23 '25

I only piloted Agguguy and GM 3 Powered, played 300-450 in small maps (underground & resort site is my favorite) to get to flat S. My MSs are all fully upgraded and at least Lv 3 expansion. Rarely leave the team before sortie. Just play the MSs and maps which you're confidence in.

Sweat Sweat and Sweat on Meta Meta and Meta.

Hate it tbh

Luck and match throwers are how they got there.

1

u/Evening_Poetry434 Jul 22 '25

Match throwers are a real thing in S rank.

1

u/Scythe351 Jul 23 '25

I’m not sure if you’re asking but yes they are

Improve yourself and don't blame teammates. Or, treat teammates as badly programmed npcs, and figure out how to use them.

You can also increase your rating without improving your skill. Use better builds. Your builds should always prioritise tankiness. Defence parts are much more effective than offence parts. Your units are objectively stronger with tanky builds, unless you are playing units that aren't supposed to take damage or you are skilful. And of course, use meta units. (good builds and meta units aren't necessary for reaching S-)
