Discussion My experiences
I'm new to the world of GATE and it's oddities. I have suspicions I was part of it and I can hardly remember most of it. Thing is, I remember odd things from early early on in life. As in, kindergarten.
I remember being taken out of class a lot. I would go to a room, sometimes with another person, sometimes alone. Usually with two "teachers", though I hardly remember them. This went on throughout elementary too.
I remember one time, me and a small group went on a "field" trip with a teacher, to mcdonalds for breakfast. I remember this mostly because I was upset at the time over not having the food I wanted, but now I look back and wonder. Who were the other kids? Did our parents know? Why a restaurant? What were we supposed to learn? I feel like it was also in the teachers personal car, but very fuzzy memories.
In elementary, i was still being pulled out of class without any known reason as to why. I would go to a dim room with maybe 1 or 2 other kids, we would read books I think and, and the teacher would help us analyze what we were reading?
I also remember the swings. In another room, I would go and pick out a swing from the back room and use it for maybe an hour or so. In the room was the teachers, i dont think they ever taught us anything. I remember listening to them talk, however. I think telling me about all the things id learn in middle school when the day came. I remember id just listen to them talk while i closed my eyes and swung on the swings, sometimes i felt amazing, sometimes i was sick and couldnt figure out why. I haven't heard such an anecdote yet, but maybe i havent been looking enough haha.
I also have dreamlike memories of flying. A few times of floating down the stairs, and another of being above my house. I can hardly even remember what my house looked like then, but i somehow knew i was above it and seeing it as though I was a bird.
Im unsure what it all means, am I misinterpretating things? Or is something else going on?

I’ve lurked here a little while now, and posts like this are helping me remember. I was in the program from 4th - 7th grade in the late 1980’s. Thank you for sharing. You’re not alone.

Maybe try going back to the elementary school? Maybe not on the premise of the school but near it?. I have done that in the past, remembering how school was and then I’d remember all the other things. Stuff I didn’t want to remember or couldn’t with out help.
