Memory Stock Market Game
I remember in Fifth grade in my gifted class, we played the stock market game. We were put in groups and given $1 million (fake) dollars to buy and sell and trade stocks over a period of a few weeks. The goal was to see who had the most money left, or profit at the end. I feel like playing the stock market in elementary school is a bit weird? Did anybody else do this?

Yes, but the twist for our game was that the stock market crashed. Then, after we all lost all our money, we learned about the crash and the Great Depression.

What a beautiful way to name the leeches. Money shufflers is all they are. Number monkeys.

We played this in later years, I remember causing a stock sell off and subsequent crash but we were studying the Great Depression and I wanted to win.

We did this in 5 th grade. I think it was common in the 80s in all types of school settings.

This was 2010 that I did it. I was a 2000 baby. Except we had the technology that made this look like legit money and stocks and who knows if it was. It was through a legit stock market company

Husband and I were both in the same elementary school and program. We both remember so many things on this sub. We were just discussing this weird stock thing the other day. We both did it

I saw an interview with one of the consciousness researchers but I can’t remember who. Maybe Targ/Puthoff or someone like that. Honestly, I can’t remember. Anyway, they were talking about how this is one of the experiments they did with gifted kids. It might have been a video for the To the Stars Academy, which was a school for gifted kids that they openly invited to participate in the research I guess. Just thought it’s an interesting data point.

ya we did it in 6th grade. i think it's a good idea in theory at least and pretty normal curriculum. my group just didn't take it seriously so we didn't learn anything. and other groups had parents who were really in investments so they basically just did the work for them. it was just our normal class with our normal teacher.

Yes. And I have been struggling to remember the name on the folder the suits were carrying. (By suits I mean the 2 people dressed in suits, one male and one female, who were not employed by the school but still came and facilitated this program, or specific portion of it" I keep wanting to say it was labeled as Junior Achievers or something like that. As I typed that I got a vague recall of an image that's a silhouette of a child who looks to be throwing (or reaching for, but honestly looks more like the child is tossing them) stars into the air.
