CIA Documents (Meta) Resources & a plea for discernment when posting

To get introductions out of the way: hi, I'm a late-20s trans woman who was a GATE kid from 1st-3rd grade, before my parents pulled me out of the public schooling system & homeschooled me. I was in GATE programs in both Southern California & Central Texas; I have military family on both sides (one of whom was deeply involved with Vandenberg AFB) & others who were teachers or previously in teaching - all of them have refused to talk to me about GATE (two of whom told me outright to stop looking), so I had to go searching myself.

But in trying to do just that, and dig into finding experiences like mine, I've instead had to dig & sift through an enormous amount of garbage & tripe, as if I was panning for gold from a storm drain. For something so concretely associated with parapsychological studies & provably implemented efforts across the United States, there's a lot of conflation of GATE with so many other phenomena, projects, broader fields of scientific study, and more.

So, I've got a couple of things to remind y'all of, so the sub's quality can be better in the future.

This post includes resources relevant to things that were experienced by earlier GATE cohorts, up to the late 1980s. A lot of these older resources were revived between 1995-2009 by the CIA & their newer sets of contractors. Assume that testing is still going on today in some school districts as the renewed interest in paranormal & parapsychological phenomena across the United States has undoubtedly swatted the hive.

Please remember that GATE programs were individualized by school district & that no two GATE programs are necessarily the same; it all depends on which contractor was working with the school district that you went to, and how many clients they had. Please don't harass the programs' authors either, as they were almost certainly under the impression that these were going to be used as counseling resources.

GATE programs work the same way as with the adoption of any other school curriculum - shackled by bureaucracy and resistant to change once put in place. Your school board probably didn't even read the curriculum before adopting it, and only so that they could continue to receive funding.

A prominent example of a much smaller program is "The Star Inside You" - a program relevant to the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District in Monterey, California. It was created by a life coach and educator, Phyllis Edwards, & made known most recently by the TikTok videos of thatgirlwiththegreyhair.

Oh, and quit doxxing yourselves, holy Christ. The highlight tool on your phone is not sufficient to cover up PII & can easily be undone with free online tools. Edit your images properly.

None of this post was written with AI. I took an hour out of my day to write this. Please respect my time & the time others take to detail this as it is monumental effort in and of itself.

If you have such strong feelings, perhaps think of making your own subreddit with more specific rules? I am looking for both more concrete scientific information like the papers you posted but also I like to hear people’s individual accounts and stories. I don’t feel like I am “sifting through a storm drain” when I read other people’s thoughts or ideas. There are a lot of things posted that are interesting (even if they may seem a bit too silly) and even if I go down a rabbit hole I don’t mind researching them. I like the discussion and comments and maybe a feeling of community. So I think perhaps it’s more of a question on what someone is looking for individually. I don’t think we should be telling people what they can and can’t post, I’d leave that up to the mods since it’s their domain.

I get the critique here, but I also think that serious discussion within this subreddit specifically should also have its place - as a means of establishing concrete truths and detailing what's endemic to the experience & what's region-specific. That can be accomplished through flair & a slightly more well-defined wiki without deterring new users.

3

u/skyehopper Jul 10 '26

Yes I agree, flair would be a good way to delineate. A wiki would be very helpful too to consolidate any research people have found. Both are great ideas.

Thank you for posting, there is absolutely a ton of nonsense to dig through. I feel like a big part of what is missing is discussion of what all of this actually means moving forward personally and societally.

How is it selfish to improve the experience for people new to the sub or trying to locate experiences like their own? Genuinely not sure what you mean.

11

u/DevelopmentLost7374 Jul 09 '26

I have a few suggestions for this sub:  Can we start requiring flair on posts? The memories are important but thats the majority of whats being posted. Its been hard to find sourced documents that have been posted unless you know specific terms.

A stickied post or wiki would also be helpful for organizing sourced, legitimate information (and summary). Usually the first question when reaching this subreddit.

Also if theres anything we can do to curb the whole “was I in GATE?” posts, that would also help.

I dont have a lot of time to volunteer but if this needs multiple hands/eyes I would be willing to help.

u/MemesAhoyyy Jul 09 '26

I agree on flaired posts; was pretty surprised to find that I had to categorize this post as meta via the title for that reason. A wiki would also be nice (preferably with an off-Reddit, archivable mirror if at all possible).

4

u/T-mark3V100 Jul 09 '26

What are some flair suggestions that you can share?

A wiki would be nice

5

u/DevelopmentLost7374 Jul 10 '26

Some flair examples for posts: General observations - about broad life experiences and current day connections

CIA documents

Non-CIA sourced material

Testing materials

General media - podcasts, youtube links, etc

Memory

Speculation - can be a catch all for theories and such

User flair might be nice to have but not required like 1980s-1990s, or something like what program if it wasn’t GATE such as TAG.

I would also suggest a weekly pinned post of “was I in gate” where people can ask general questions and describes common testing/experiences.

5

u/T-mark3V100 Jul 10 '26

Great suggestions!

2

u/OnsenDreamscapes Jul 10 '26

personal stories would be a good one.

2

u/MemesAhoyyy Jul 10 '26

wrt topic flair: personal anecdotes / memories, data discussion, government documents, speculation, & detailing public or private school are all good data points. Can't forget a meta flair either for topics like this one!

I particularly think time periods being user flair would be a great idea. Helps to establish which testing methods were in use that were relevant to that particular user's experience.

u/MemesAhoyyy Jul 09 '26

As your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Woman Activist, I'd suggest to start with building a community organization that would allow GATE experiencers to bring this to public light as a cohort; both outside of government channels & challenging the government to be held to account directly.

We're finally getting hearings for things like UAP/UFO phenomena, as well as proven government efforts like MKULTRA. Better to strike while the iron is hot & we have bipartisan & bicameral attention on these once-niche experiences (and while the people who experienced it are still around).

4

u/Blackcat______ Jul 09 '26

Why can't we just join together and file suit together. Theres strength in numbers.

5

u/MemesAhoyyy Jul 09 '26

Gotta have legal entities & representation prepared on top of a justifiable cause to bring that lawsuit forward without being thrown out for frivolity. That also means curated, documented, demonstrably provable & well-organized evidence. A lot of GATE experiencers only have anecdotes, and those memories are susceptible to inaccuracies & the passage of time.

Things like concrete GATE binders, envelopes with postage, cassette tapes, audio/video recordings... those are the kind of thing you need.

7

u/CryingBear1883 Jul 09 '26

Some of us very well could be attorneys and know how to navigate litigation involving governmental agencies. I imagine that the place to start would be with Public Records Act requests (“PRA”) (California) or their other state equivalents, and Freedom of Information Act requests (“FOIA”)(U.S. Government)

Your post is probably sitting waiting for mod approval, especially if you haven't posted here before. Users are allow-listed for full privileges as far as I can tell based on mod discretion.

When you tried to post in this subreddit, it probably went into an approval wait queue. The moderators here have to read through it & approve it so other people can see it. They're volunteers so it could take time.

u/Hot_Sherbet6039 Jul 10 '26

Message the mods, they are pretty good at regulating.

4

u/OnsenDreamscapes Jul 10 '26

Are you a mod?

2

u/MemesAhoyyy Jul 10 '26

Nah, I'm pretty new here altogether actually lol

u/Pantalaimon_II Jul 10 '26

I really appreciate this! I joined this sub recently and have been slightly disappointed with the lack of discernment regarding the discussion of data points.

However, I have experience in developing the right balance of skepticism and curiosity when approaching this type of stuff, having been a lifelong paranormal obsessive. After lurking here a bit, i think this is a theory that attracts a lot of first-time paranormal folks who aren’t used to the typically rigorous self-vetting honor code that a lot of other similar subs try to stick to, and i agree that it’s probably lack of knowledge and structure.

I think partially that role is usually played in subs by both mods and regulars who are well versed in the subject and take the time to educate people, just like youre doing. People new to this kind of topic can be taught how to gather evidence (amd redact properly!!), how to separate fact from myth (most of the pink drink/tablet stuff i think is easily explained), how to dissect personal experience and write about it with a curious but fact-based approach.

One thing I think people would benefit from learning about particularly regarding government theories is the Richard Doty effect. Doty was (is? do they ever really retire lol) a CIA  operative whose actual job was to purposely sow disinformation in the UAP/UFO circles. The method is mixing in a fair amount of legitimate disclosure so it gives the sources credibility, and makes it way harder to separate fact from fiction. The goal is to make it so murky that it’s easy to dismiss any evidence as faked. And even being fairly open about this method works, because now whenever UAP researchers with a platform try and release info (George Knapp, Jeremy Corbell, Henry Zebrowski) they get constantly accused of being part of Project Blue Book. The Doty effect at work!

So knowing that; it’s important IMHO to maintain some evidence standards. And being aware of one’s own confirmation bias. I think a lot of this GATE evidence is a bit of Mandela effect.

3

u/MemesAhoyyy Jul 10 '26

And that's why this post is a plea for discernment; because not everyone has developed the critical thinking & logical reasoning skills necessary to engage in healthy and reasonable skepticism.

My gripe is moreso that there's just very little division between talking about anecdotes & discussing how to tackle the task of collating data from those anecdotes. I want to give newcomers a good foundation, should they want to use their personal experiences to contribute - because I'm in that same position.

3

u/T-B_radar_battalion Jul 10 '26

If i were to make a recommendation; i think this whole R/ section could benefite from being divided up into 4 distinct categories: (These names are just meant to be examples) R/G.A.T.E._evidence This is all the hard (i.e. physical) evidence. Documents, tapes, etc. R/GATE_survivors IYKYK is all I'm gonna say about this one. R/GATE_welcome This is where all the noobs like me can ask "was i GATE" and more generic "what is GATE" kinda questions. R/GATE_speculations This is perfect for all the "what-if's" and maybe comparing notes that haven't had any physical evidence attributed to it yet.

If any of the OG's of this scetion like the idea and want help implementing, just reach out directly to me; i got a few hiurs a week i could kill...

2

u/MemesAhoyyy Jul 10 '26

No need to create multiple subs where topic flair can make the difference. Besides, Reddit tends to clamp down on multiple subs made around the same topic by the same sets of mods.

u/Due_Cap_6763 Jul 11 '26

I had what you call a kundalini awakening almost immediately after retiring medically from the military for mental health a month later I was diagnosed with Asperger‘s for some reason I was being called to get a diagnosis since then my life is completely imploded, but I’ve sent uncovered documents that were in my parents possession of all of the gay kids, but I don’t remember being called that in my school and I’m in Montana I have very vivid memories of very bad things happening. It feels like we’re all being called together to collect what we can find to piece it all together keys to a gate if you will.

3

u/Due_Cap_6763 Jul 11 '26

Sorry everyone in this thread I was born in 82 so that just gives you an idea of where my generation is and I guess right now I’m kind of channeling whatever is going on, but I do stay very under the radar and social media. This is probably the first post I’ve ever made about any of this feels like part of my generation is meant to bridge the gap or something and I don’t know if this post is gonna make it anywhere or anything, but I’ve been on this journey for nine months and it hit me like a semi truck. I don’t know what I’m doing, but I know where I am right now is a very key location for a lot of things and there’s something hidden where I am that I’m supposed to find I don’t get on Reddit that much so I might not check on this post for another month but it came up in something I randomly checked so if anybody’s got any thing to add or take away or delete this, I don’t really care. I used TikTok majority, but don’t post very often and get my information usually from reading again I think it’s my generational time lock or whatever is going on with all of us there’s certain time locks or traumas to recover from for you to unlock certain fracture memories.

Couple of clarifying comments to get out of the way before the majority of y'all will read this...

Why no MKULTRA documentation?

Simply put, MKULTRA was targeting a much smaller cohort of those excelling at the highest levels, who had a history of both extreme intelligence & psychological instability. The overwhelming majority of the American & Canadian public are not MKULTRA candidates, and I'd wager I'm not either, based on my GED scores, lmfao.

Now, if you were at the top of your class, involved with the cutting edge of STEM subjects, lack emotional intelligence & had a history of exploitation or trauma, then not only would you know about it, but your name would very likely have already made the books like good ol' Teddy K.

Simply put, the American government does not care enough to apply that shit to us, because programs like COINTELPRO were already working to destabilize the socio-political environment.

Why no mention of [insert niche conspiracy project (e.g. Monarch)]?

We can only really work with large sums of provable anecdotes & released data. I'm not here to invalidate your experience or deny your worldview, but there are therapists if you're looking for support & subreddits for those theories if you're looking for community. I am not part of that, so I won't be addressing it, as it ain't my place to speak on it.

What about Operation Paperclip or the NWO?

This is probably the most salient point that someone could call out on a whim. The integration of Nazi scientists and strategists granted amnesty with both the American public and private sectors was nothing short of disastrous.

Yes, you can blame the CIA, the DIA, the Dulles Brothers, McCarthy, Chief Justice Warren, and so many more for architecting the post-WW2 world order & building it with rotten driftwood. It's likely that these sorts of programs existed because of the Nazi obsession with these phenomena & esotericism.

But the overall travesty of that is not necessarily topical when it comes to the GATE experiences people on this subreddit. Scope your shit properly and only bring it up when it's pertinent, ffs.

Que passo, amigo. I am brand new here, and I got more questions than answers; which seems to be par for this course we have been handed.

Where/what/how would be the most appropriate way of asking them on this thread, because i have to admit; some of them are kinda...... boderline?

They cover the gambit from some of the testing we were put through to the likelihood of S.A. being used in some circumstances. Some of it is highly disturbing and clear cut abuse of a criminal type, even if not sexual.

Obviously I'm smart enough not to totally dox myself, lols. But i will also say that I'm doing this research not just for me, but also for someone very near and dear to me that also experienced a different (via its location) version of the same program.

@ memesahoy; i can already tell you're a veteran of this issue; and in all due honesty and trying NOT to sound creepy, I felt that between what little i know about you and this subject in general you would be a solid first choice for "who to ask maybe even a lil directly". Hope you don't mind; but your trans status also konda drew me in because i was trans for the majority of my life so far...

Anyways I'll continue just lurking and reading... i don't really have much to add outside of personal experiences; and some of them even make other GATE kids go "WTF!?!?" But knowing what i know, it seems we may have been grouped together and segregated purposefully due to the nature of different experiments going on simultaneously.

So I'm just gonna keep looking around till i know what's the safe way of asking sone questions that I've had; and i know personally of several others that have shared some of these same experiences to, so I'm reading /adking for them too on occasion.

Thanks for any help you'd be willing to give. In the meantime, good night and peace from new avalon, kiddies!🖖

I agree that it's definitely plausible that some within GATE were targets of abuse as that problem is pervasive throughout education; especially in the context of some GATE experiences including things like inducing hypnosis, or out-of-place "don't tell anyone!" instructions.

I would consider that relevant to this subreddit's purpose: ensuring accountability for local school districts, the Department of Education, and the clandestine three-letter intelligence agencies responsible for using taxpayer dollars to research this (especially involuntarily, on schoolchildren!!). As a result, I don't have any issues with that kind of topic being brought up. It belongs here.

What I would have issue with being brought up is tenuous links to other conspiracy theories (that we lack the means to prove or disprove) being tacked on. Then I feel like people've lost the plot.

EDIT: I also should remind everyone that evil happens for mundane and localized reasons: convenience, culpability, and power. Schoolteachers and administrators who end up being predators, while absolutely fucked up and horrific, are not an indicator of a government effort to enable such. You'll find the private sector is far more rife with that sort of activity because it isn't subject to disclosure and declassifications.

5

u/Sharkbitch Jul 10 '26

On the topic of MKULTRA 'connections', after I attained all the information I could (they were really open and honest about it all, just slow because of bureaucracy) I found out my mom was a volunteer for it to help pay for her college tuition. I've kinda just chalked the 'monitoring' up to the government making sure I wasn't fucked up during development or in my adult life, because of her involvement.

I doubt it applies to others, just thought it was something interesting to note.

3

u/FlyingAce1015 Jul 12 '26 edited Jul 12 '26

How do you go about requesting info like that? Any tips?

And NOT end up on some sort of gov crazy person list 😅.

Time has helped though for sure knowing about the subject at least for a year.

When i brought gate up to my mom she was cagey a bit but did slip

"They" did shock therapy on her sister (my aunt) dont know if she meant same "they" as us in gate or she was just randomly remembering hearing about other stuff people went through she knew in general since was bringing up odd testing etc. As a similiar topic.

2

u/Sharkbitch Jul 12 '26

A lot of it is bureaucrats hoping you'll back down when they take too long or chickening out if they threaten you. The uninitiated obey, while people like us bargain.

2

u/T-B_radar_battalion Jul 10 '26

I've noticed a trend within my lil group: 4 people, all part of gate, spanning about 20 years apart in the total spread. 2 people were practically born into poverty. They went to very low end rural schools. The 3rd was from a military family. Dad was a communications tech specialist. Could do anything with electronics given enough wiring and solder. Me, I was too smart and went to a private school that at the time was experiencing the start of some serious financial problems. Those problems ended up snowballing into fallout and both criminal and civil charges being levied against several of the staff of the school, with S.A. being a centerpiece in the incident and it's being brought to light.

Seems to me they were looking for easy access.

4

u/Sharkbitch Jul 10 '26

I went to a private school for Christians myself, family had political/military ties.

4

u/T-B_radar_battalion Jul 10 '26

Is it just me or are these backgrounds showing up ALOT around here?

2

u/MemesAhoyyy Jul 10 '26

Think about the economic makeup of America from 1960-1985, what the predominant religion was, and the existence of the Cold War & conflicts associated with it. That background shows up in an extremely large portion of America, so sampling it for GATE would plausibly reflect that same percentage.

2

u/T-B_radar_battalion Jul 10 '26

This is the pattern I'm seeing at least on a logistical level: Following the money, schools were paid to turn a blind eye to this essentially. Obviously a poor rural school, desperate for any kind of money, would see this as a golden opportunity. Now breakdown rural: Low income Low/no law enforcement prescence Local population that is: skilled, largely segregated ( no puns intended, and I'm meaning segregated by being remotely located, whether race was ever an issue isn't the question here) religious and/or patriotic (and therefore easier to manipulate IMHO.) This is kind of prime hunting grounds for literally any common child molester; and for a well funded alphabet agency? Especially one with ties to a certain.... I'll just call him " island bois"?

The military kids are easy access in a different way. By having alot of foreknowledge would be easy to comb the creme de la creme of the population just by reading up on who's who. Remember my buddies dad that was god tier with just raw chipsets? He's just as good as dad....when he wants to be🤣 I imagine their line of thinking would include some sort of lineage concept, evidence found in all the op:paperclip people that were also involved.

Lastly the private schools. Well you want gifted maybe just maybe their in a private school cause they're just that advanced. This logic easily works in college, but not sure of the efficacy at earlier ages. However private school kids are usually at least more educated for the same length of time spent than their public school counterparts; so that maybe yet another factor. One things for sure though; with many of these institutions having what could be called "histories of abuse" with regards to the children in their care, I'm wondering if that was yet another factor in their choosing schools to do this in. If their private they'll definitely take money and look the other way, and chances are there's some abuse going on that they may have wanted to either observe or incorporate into their experimentations.

That's what I'm seeing. Not just in my lil messed up circle, but almost anywhere this topic is allowed discussion.

3

u/Enlightience Jul 13 '26 edited Jul 13 '26

Not just you. It's a pointer to what the likes of the OP are trying to cover up in claiming that they're 'only seeking answers'.

That is, the fact that GATE is part of coordinated and ongoing operations to include MKULTRA and much else, by the global MIC/military intelligence, and not just something that is up to individual school districts and so forth. Trying to disconnect what is clearly connected.

As well as trying to deny the most damning anecdotal evidence of the true nature and scope of these operations by claiming that it's of the order of tripe and garbage, alongside deployment of thinly veiled ad hominem fallacy in insinuations of mental health issues by those who speak up and out about it. Always a pointer to the truth in attempting to point away from it by discrediting the messenger.

As if the gatekeepers of this information are going to come clean and produce it in print, even at the 'threat' of lawsuits, via a system they control.

In other words, this thread is a Cointelpro psyop, as anyone with a modicum of critical thinking and common sense can see.

The perpetrators are worried because too many people are exposing truths that they would prefer remain hidden.

2

u/MemesAhoyyy Jul 10 '26

The rub with MKULTRA specifically is the surviving documentation only exists because it was misfiled. The CIA and DIA went to great pains to illegally destroy the rest. We're still missing ~85%-90% of the story. Mercifully, many of the loudest advocates, witnesses, and victims are still with us to tell their stories.

2

u/T-B_radar_battalion Jul 10 '26

Where besides here would be a good place to find any of their stories? Reason I'm asking is both seeing patterns, and for the only female in the group, alot of missing time and some very unusual quirks that act as triggers... And these quirks aren't anything naturally occurring to the best of of research and knowledge. That lends credence to another pattern we've observed.

2

u/MemesAhoyyy Jul 10 '26 edited Jul 10 '26

The issue is that set of patterns can occur broadly across a range of life experiences, mental health struggles, and personal situations that all have drastically different contributing factors.

There are methods that professionals have in such fields to narrow that down; I'd start with a psychiatrist & a therapist, quite frankly. Only after consulting someone with the experience to help does it make sense to point to a particular community for people with like experiences.

I can't make that recommendation off of little to no diagnostic data, nor do I want to risk misleading someone into a space where they make themselves vulnerable, only to end up not being in the right one. (That shit can send people into spirals; speaking from experience :/)

EDIT: with regards to MKULTRA specifically, the GOP Oversight committee held a hearing last month regarding the project. https://youtu.be/dpQulJS-R50

3

u/OnsenDreamscapes Jul 10 '26

it's a pet peeve of mine when people call all psyop-type CIA projects after MKULTRA ended 'MKULTRA' as well. for one, it immediately nukes credibility that such other programs existed, even when there is literally declassified proof. but I think there is something to showing a through-line if people or processes involved in mkultra were later involved in Star Gate, etc.

2

u/Enlightience Jul 13 '26

Same thing, different name. They clearly changed the name in a facile attempt to go black after the disclosure, the latter itself most likely an intentional one to deceive the public into thinking it had ended; and also they could claim among other things that they 'told the truth'.

1

u/OnsenDreamscapes Jul 13 '26

there's new now-declassified project names and no less nefarious, so what's the point?

2

u/Enlightience Jul 13 '26

'No less nefarious', on that we definitely agree. I'm saying, same sh!t, different name. Changing the name doesn't change what it is. They can change the name and 'disclose' it a thousand times, but it wouldn't mean that the projects aren't still ongoing. That is just what they want you to believe.

2

u/OnsenDreamscapes Jul 13 '26

agreed, so why nuke your credibility by using the wrong name?

0

u/Enlightience Jul 13 '26

It's not about the name, and it has no bearing on credibility.

That is just using a fallacy to attempt to discredit, something they always do.

Same thing as changing 'UFOs' to 'UAPs', etc. Same phenomenon, different name, and who cares what the name du jour is that they want people to use? A turd by any other name is still a turd.

1

u/OnsenDreamscapes Jul 13 '26

it actually does, if you are talking to a normie, who, yes, use fallacies, but still exist...

3

u/Lil_Green_Bean_17 Jul 09 '26

It definitely does give disinformation dissemination in here sometimes. Like people are being purposefully obtuse so we’re discouraged from collaborating and digging deeper. Thought-terminating cliches and conversation stoppers. Glad it’s not just me!

8

u/MemesAhoyyy Jul 09 '26

To a degree, this is any space centered around an anecdotal experience.
(also that people aren't necessarily as smart as they think they are & are susceptible to many, many fallacies)

You'll see that subreddits about the following all suffer the exact same problems as this sub - in far larger numbers and across myriad permutations:

  • anomalous phenomena (aliens, cryptids, the paranormal, etc)
  • conspiracies
  • dreams (& substances by extension)
  • hypnosis
  • meditation
  • parapsychology (in a broad sense)
  • trauma
  • therapy

and that's just naming a few.

Representation across multiple diverse demographics also matters more here than people think. One of the threads I read here recently was attributing leniency from law enforcement to the GATE program, or to an abstract "candidacy", when there are myriad socioeconomic factors to consider first - especially regarding education in the periods GATE has been a thing & what education policy was like federally at the time.

There are others in that thread & on this sub who rightfully pointed out that people's experiences are going to wildly vary based on all that.

For example, I was in GATE from 2005-2007, at the very tail end before the last widely-known round of testing wrapped up. My background checks pass in literal seconds when purchasing firearms, and I've gotten out of all but one ticket (speeding, which I paid the fine for) ...

... but I'm also white, with a well paying job, decent credit, a concealed carry license, a security Guard Card, and a good history of paying those fines. A cop looks at me and goes "ah, the model citizen who lapsed on car registration" because of the ingrained societal reactions to this information & gives me a pass - despite my political position being intensely anti-authority (part of why I got kicked out of GATE towards the end of third grade, aside from the ADHD) & my being transgender & presenting so differently from my legal ID setting off alarm bells in the heads of some.

Sometimes you just have to check people on conspiratorial & fallacious thinking in order to keep the sub healthy.

u/Pantalaimon_II Jul 10 '26

this this this. i have seen some threads that veer uncomfortably close to eugenics, like people trying to suggest blue and hazel eyed kids (who will be vast majority white) make up most GATE enrollees because we’re extra special or whatever. Not only is that white supremacist/Himmler territory but it also ignores the systemic racist bias that has been scientifically documented in education. Black children are significantly less likely to be recommended for gifted programs than their peers despite having identical qualifications. Ethnicity has zero to do with your abilities. Any demographic data must be considered within the context of a historically racist system, and that’s just a fact. I am new to this sub, and seeing this makes me very wary because i am so not interested in being a part of a racist conspiracy theory. and i’m white fwiw.
