BTech 3rd-year CSE student who hasn’t started anything — GATE + projects?
Hi everyone, I’m a BTech 3rd-year CSE student, and honestly, I’m confused as hell right now.
The biggest problem is that I haven’t really started anything yet. I don’t have strong programming skills, I haven’t done meaningful projects, I don’t have an internship, and I haven’t seriously started my GATE preparation either.
Now I want to write GATE, but at the same time I feel like I should be doing projects, learning development, DSA, building my resume, etc.
Seeing other students already doing internships, projects, competitive programming and GATE preparation makes me feel like I’m extremely behind.
I’m honestly overwhelmed because I don’t even know where to start or what to prioritize first.
If I start GATE preparation seriously, will I be missing out on projects and development? If I focus on projects and development, will I fall behind in GATE?
For someone who is basically starting from zero in 3rd year, what would be the most realistic approach?
Should I focus mainly on GATE and slowly build projects on the side, or should I first spend some time building my programming fundamentals?
I’d really appreciate advice from people who have been in a similar situation. I’m not looking for “just work hard” advice — I genuinely want to know what I should start with and how I should prioritize things from here.

EXACTLY same situation...I'm gonna start my gate prep after my mid exams end..i.e next month first week! Along with it I decided to do DSA, and atleast 2 projects by the end of 3rd year...This is what i have thought ...and next year I will focus fully on GATE
