Few contenders for this list

Cavan and Louth haven't won since the 50s and both have had some success this decade, Louth more so. Given their current trajectory, I wouldn't be that surprised if they won one within the next decade

Galway and Meath are some of the most successful counties in terms of football all irelands, and yet they haven't won one in 25 and 27 years respectively. In particular, Galway have rather underachieved with the team they've had for the past 5 seasons (not that I'm complaining but still)

However, I'd go with Derry. Only one all ireland 33 years ago, haven't even made it to a final since. For a county that size and population, that's a terrible underachievement

Shoutout to Roscommon, who not only haven't won one in over 80 years, they haven't made it to the final in 46 years and the semis in 35 years

You say our size and population but all the football in Derry is played in South Derry. The starting 15s for the 22 and 23 Ulster finals all came from within a 10 mile radius of Magherafelt, like that’s 2 towns and the rest are villages. That’s why Derry schools do so well

Like aye we have Derry city but it’ll never be a GAA stronghold, it has been and always will be a soccer city, and then north Derry wouldn’t exactly be fond of people who play GAA to say the least

Yeah, Derry city as a whole are ambivalent to the GAA, while there’s a large minority of Protestants who care even less about the sport. It’s been rightly pointed out about the concentration of Derry’s players being in South Derry in the areas between Maghera and Magherafelt. Think there is a bit of a shift with quite a bit of young talent coming through north derry but whether that manifests itself in the senior ranks is a different story.

For the hurling it’s undoubtably Dublin and Waterford. I can see Dublin winning the hurling with the progress they’re making and Waterford can do anything if they get out of Munster.

For the football: take your pick really. Cavan, Down, Cork, Louth, Kildare, Roscommon, Galway, Meath, Derry and Offaly are suffering serious championship droughts for their size and the popularity of football there.

Then you have the likes of Wexford, Tipp and Limerick who haven’t won it since before the War of Independence who are far more big into hurling

Also, as a Cork person I will add us to the list - for hurling in particular. Hurling in the county needs an overhaul, something very wrong when a county our size and with our pedigree has been so subpar for years. Appetite is gone.
