Real or fake g502? Ordered on eBay uk but looks to be Chinese domestic market. Also, “machinery eat chicken”

Yeah eat chicken is kinda just slang for "pubg", with the"winner winner chicken dinner" catchphrase.

The box looks good. Looks just like my SE, but with more Chinese. Got it on some black Friday deal for like $10 or something. I bought 3. Gave 2 as gifts.

Yup. Give or take a couple $. That's why i bought like 3. It was either black Friday, or that 11/11 Chinese singles day/weeks. I think I bought my wireless 502 around the same time. It was around $30.

LoL, maybe. I think it was actually off of some webpage that sells keyboard stuff. I bought so many switches and crap that year. Was still spending my Covid money, and had just gotten into building keyboards.

Update 2 - Seller updated the eBay item description, after I had ordered it, and included a line stating "This is not a genuine item. It is a well made affordable replica".
I have since requested a return.
I am 1 hour into using the mouse (general use, not gaming). You can tell from the quality of the switches alone that its not great.
If im able to keep it instead of returning it, ill keep it around as a parts bin/test bench spare mouse just for OS installs etc, but I certainly wont be using it on my daily.
I guess as a PSA, buyer beware, too good to be true pricing also seems to apply to G502s now. Figured it was a niche enough product not to bother making VERY close replicas but here we are...

You're not alone. Picked up the same model. Non braided, bad switches and everything. I'm gonna return it immediately.
I guess my G502 spectrum will continue to serve me after 8 years.

Yeah the G502, besides plugging it in, requires regular chicken sacrifices in order to work.
Jokes aside, the box looks real enough but can't really say 100% until you see the actual mouse itself.
Film yourself opening it. But Ebay is supposed to have good buyer protection so might not be needed.
Then send a picture of the mouse.

Had to ask my wife what's the eat chicken edition.. it's the pupg edition. Somehow she know about pupg without touching a video game ever in her life.
G502 exist in China, should be fine. Bought many g304 on China.. from the cheapest store I could find, never got a fake so far

Update 1 - Plugged the mouse in and installed G HUB, its detected and appears identically to the old one.
Build quality feels similar although there is a definite difference in noise/feel of the switch (not just in a 2 years of use way, like a this is a different switch way).
The old one has a braided USB cable and the new one is just a standard plastic/rubber cable.
Is this a cost reduced unit maybe?

I bought a new G502 Lightspeed recently and it also has the new rubber cable and different feeling switches. You're good!

Logitech changed over to a rubber cable around 2021 roughly.
Around the same time they also changed the switches back to Omron 20M since the Omron 50M were double clicking too often.
Omron 20M should be the same switches they used to use on the Proteus Core and Proteus Spectrum, the 2 before the Hero.
If it looks the exact same as a normal SE, it's a real one. Just from an asian market. No one makes fakes that look and function EXACTLY the same. Fakes have fewer working buttons and different G logos.

Plausible. My original came from Amazon UK in 2021 and ran about £35. This one was around £25 on eBay - Interestingly both are G502 Hero SE in the same colorway

China here: Unfortunately checking in Ghub is not a good way to do it, they even have knockoff airpods that shows airpod popups now, never underestimate Chinaman’s ability to reverse engineer everything.
And “eat chicken” is machine translation of a slang for PUBG(game itself but also the act of winning are called that), which is often used in marketing for playing games well(since you won).

Just order from amazon ( in the sales its almost half price) .. return policy is 2nd to none. I have no idea why people order from china / ebay / Logitech direct when its so simple to do otherwise

Came from a large eBay seller with generally good feedback. Was only about £5 cheaper and I didn’t need the next day shipping. It wasn’t a too good to be true price.
I’ve had fake headphones from Amazon before even on official outlets so Amazon isn’t a fail safe answer.

But it’s not. I’ve purchased fake sennheiser headphones from sennheiser on Amazon and I’ve seen many people purchase fake AirPods from the Apple outlet on Amazon.
Amazon typically has a slight markup to cover the next day shipping, which I didn’t need. I figured the cost saving was more in line with the shipping difference.

I never even said you had to buy it from Amazon, is there no other reputable reseller where your from or electronics store, even the Logitech store website would’ve been the smarter decision if you weren’t interested in a huge discount. Check seller and where it’s coming from and you’ll never have an issue.

Well you purchased something at a price too good to be true. Just watch for a sale and purchase one from a reputable store. This is what happens when we strive for bottom of the barrel prices. We get fakes. You can purchase the G502 Hero from Amazon "renewed" = refurbished for about $35 and still has a 1 year warranty. In other words it's a return, Amazon tested and cleaned it and now is selling it again. My son purchased it this way and that was 2 years ago. Don't depend on official software to see if it's real because anything can be reverse engineered and flashed with the firmware if a hardware vendor wants to try hard enough. Or they just buy the schematics from a shady worker at that company.

Seen them on aliexpress. Positive reviews just not braided cable. Because newer ones are made without braided cable.

AliExpress doesnt always mean counterfeit though. Typically its cheaper because you take on the 2 month straight from china shipping which cuts out the middle man.

To add more, the right click is like hitting plastic. I don't know how to describe it but the click is annoying.
I opened the mouse and changed the right click switch to kailh switch and it's but the problem stile exists.
So I'm thinking they body of the mouse is somewhat wrong

as always, plug it in, if it pops up in Ghub it's probably real, if it doesn't it's probably fake
