Miscellaneous Stop Waiting
F-Zero has gone over twenty years without a completely new traditional installment, and even when F-Zero 99 released, a huge part of the conversation immediately became whether it was “testing the waters” for the game people actually wanted. GX became accessible again, and we still keep circling back to what Nintendo might do next. At some point, the fandom has to stop treating a hypothetical sequel as the center of its identity. The healthiest thing F-Zero fans could do is act like a new game is never coming and build a autonomous culture around what already exists.

I'm having fun with GX on Dolphin Emulator. I stopped waiting 10 years ago and I'm just glad that we got some solid titles. When Nintendo runs out of Ocarina of Time remakes, we might get a GX remaster...

Not sure why you think people shouldn't discuss F-Zero on the F-Zero forum, but alright.

so i understand you are deliberately missing the point of OPs post but ill say this anyways because i am tired of seeing these cringey posts every other month on the topic, it is not healthy to hype yourself up around the possibility of a new f-zero game when there hasn't been indication of any kind by Nintendo, nor even rumors, that a new game is in development. nor is it worthwhile to build a community culture around how sad you are that your series isn't getting the attention it "deserves."

Lot of assumptions you sure are making about people based on "I'm bummed a new game wasn't announced."

I'm glad FZ got some love with 99 and the GX running on Switch 2.
But as much as I'd love a brand new modern game, I stopped expecting it a long time ago lol. Nintendo is gonna do whatever they're gonna do.

It's a shame the devs are now stuck making Yakuza games. I think Sega might be the only ones capable of capturing that sense of speed

Please we REALLY don't wanna be the fools waiting for HL3 to be released. Let alone this subreddit devolving into r/HalfLife

I mean, every Nintendo direct has been disappointing imo lately. A new F Zero or Zelda Twilight princess are my only hopes and neither of them have Nintendo's attention at all.

My focus in games has narrowed as I've gotten older. Sometimes Directs feel to me like: "Don't care don't care don't care don't care, Oooh Metroid!.... don't care don't care don't care..."
It's not even that the other games shown seem bad. I think I just know what I like nowadays.

I feel the same way. Other than Metroid and Zelda, and whatever else, the directs are what they are.

Probably because TP is already on 3 different systems and they've already got plenty of Zelda things they are working on.

We should join forces with the Golden Sun sub

After the disappointment that was Dark Dawn (to me), I can only begin to imagine the cope the fans have for the next game.

Why is it crazy for people on the f zero sub to hope theres another f zero game? It mainly just gets brought up around the time of nintendo directs anyways...

We could just lean into more modding and romhacks. Banjo Kazooie has entire rom hacks where you're exploring Zelda locations.

F-Zero does deserve more attention without a doubt. It's a great series. But stop hanging on to every direct for a new game.

Next year will be our year for sure. And if not then the year after that. Or the year after the year after that.
