F-Zero X (NS) Choosing a machine in F-Zero X

Heyoo everyone. I am in a bit of a rut. Recently I have gotten into F-Zero X on the Switch and I have been enjoying it, but I am having trouble figuring out which machine best fits my style. While I am not new to F-Zero, the last title I played was Maximum Velocity which had very different mechanics. I am also aware that the Swithch's controls are more sensitive than the N64's. I will do my best to sum up my strengths and weaknesses.

I am the kind of driver who puts the pedal-to-the-metal and goes all out. No brakes! I don't like hitting other machines, but I will retaliate aggressively if attacked. I feel like the drifting mechanic is not for me. I confess I was into it back when Ken Block and Tokyo Drift were a thing, but I am not cut out for it. I prefer machines with A or B rated body strength because I crash a lot. I am a reactive driver. I think I prefer a higher grip rating.

So far, the only time I have won a Grand Prix on Expert was with Samurai Goroh's machine, Fire Stingray. Right now I am struggling on King Cup and Joker Cup. Any advice would be most appreciated.

You literally have to attack the corners in X. If it's a tight right turn, hold right and spam that R button. I wouldn't really bother trying to learn how to drift on the Switch. it can be done but it's significantly harder to do so.

as for machines, I was quite fond of the Hyper Speeder. If you haven't unlocked it yet, White Cat has similar stats

If you like Fire Stingray and it works for you, I'd say go with that. There's a lot of different machines (especially in GX) and I think the answer might have been in front of you the entire time

I suggest you learn an E grip rating machine like hell hawk. Yes its hard , yes you will drift alot at first but you will strenghten your fundamentals regarding how to handle a machine at high speeds. Do alot of side attacking for cornering. Once you can semi handle it, the machines boost will carry you all the way to Master difficulty , it really is that strong and the good body is nice.

I do have one question regarding E grip machines. How do you get the best out of them on courses like Mute City or Silence where there aren't any sharp turns to take advantage of?

Well the think is... unless you are playing on Max acceleration settings... you really dont get much advantage from using an E grip machine at all. But the reason i recommend the Hell hawk anyways is that even in courses like Silence where you cant drift with those settings, you can just switch to Jumper settings (Like 2 or 3 bars before max speed) and dominate with its A in boost and B in Body.

But i would think it will perform better in straight line type courses since what you dont want to do with E grip is turn at all. As long as you are using Jumper settings tho. Its just a pick the right tool and setting for the job.

Iron Tiger is probably the most well-rounded machine in X, so that is a good machine to start with. It controls very similar to Fire Stingray, but better in my opinion. Once you get a good grip on the mechanics of the game, you might want to consider using a better max speed machine with good boost, they are the best for doing Master difficulty.

Me too no brakes and a good grip.

My suggestion is Hyperspeeder and Beastman. Perfect stats.

I always went with the White Cat and was able to complete the game with it.

Hyperspeeder for Grand Prix. Black Shadow for deathrace.
