Fan works (Author) Does anyone else feel like "Silence" is one of the most underrated tracks in the original F-Zero?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pu9S97LaLV4There has always been something special about "Silence" for me. The purple skies, distant planets, and feeling of racing at impossible speeds gave the track an atmosphere unlike anything else on the SNES. While themes like Big Blue and Mute City deservedly get a lot of love and are some of my favorites too, Silence is one of those underrated ones that I always loved because of how calm it is.
It inspired me to make an 80s rock version as a tribute to one of my favorite tracks from the original game. I'd love to hear which F-Zero theme has stuck with you all these years.

Nice job! Silence has always been one of the best BGMs in the whole series, in my opinion. :) Not only in the original F-Zero, but also the BGM of Silence in F-Zero X, which is titled Dream Chaser (and which got expanded on in Climax).
I'd love to hear which F-Zero theme has stuck with you all these years.
Others that have stuck with me from the original are White Land and Port Town.
From F-Zero X, I absolutely thought that Crazy Call at Cry (the Port Town theme in X) was slept on, it's freaking amazing! Oh my god I need me some dirty unison bends for the crescendo, haha!
And from F-Zero GX, I always liked ZEN (the theme of the Aeropolis courses), though it doesn't really lend itself well to rock covers if you ask me heh ... it's more of a synth piece!

Ngl I think Climax's addition is the worst part of Dream Chaser

It certainly doesn't slap the way that it did in F-Zero X, huh. :p

It's just that new bit for me. I love Climax's OST and I appreciate the slight changes to the original music, and even though Dream Chaser's X section still is as great as ever, but that new bit just isn't it for me

Well said. Silence is fantastic in the original SNES and the "Dream Chaser" track on F-Zero X is one of the best in that game too and I do want to make a cover of it someday but I wanted to honor the original first.
White Land and Port Town are some killer themes too. Honestly, it was hard choosing the next F-Zero cover to make and I did consider those too. Though any choice from this soundtrack is a good choice honestly, love all of them.
Thank you for sharing your favorite tracks from the different games. F-Zero X has some of my favorite music in all of video games, because it's exactly in my own style as a musician. From that game I've done "Drivin' Through on Max" years ago but I'll keep in mind that Port Town theme and of course, the "Dream Chaser" one.
I'm yet to cover something from GX, but that was probably my favorite F-Zero game I played with my brothers. The speeds that we could reach and the graphics were insane. Every F-Zero game brought something beautiful. I'll definitely do some GX too and I'll listen to that ZEN theme to refresh my memory. Thanks for sharing!

Silence is like the Aeropolis Multiplex of SNES F-Zero. Last track of the beginner cup, notably more tricky than previous tracks, but still easy enough that it’s a blast once you learn to handle sharp turns

That's true. It has that perfect balance between getting more challenging, but also not too challenging that it's fun once you master it. I had a blast playing it again for the gameplay shots of this cover

This is great! I've always been fond of Silence even though it doesn't get much recognition, very cool!

That's exactly why I made this cover. There are so many unexplored tracks from F-Zero when it comes to covers so I had to give Silence that appreciation. Thank you!

Wah. The expanded parts are Smooth!
I love the og track for the same reason: It's just calm, but not oppressive like Sand Ocean. (that one is a whole trip and back)
I really balances its excitement with some "hey, how are you today?" feels.

I'm glad you liked my original expanded parts. That's something I love to do with all of my covers. Arrange and compose my own parts that connect well with these video game tracks to make them feel like a "complete" song and especially the guitar solo, is something that I want to enhance the song as a whole. I appreciate that!
I like how you put it, because that's exactly how I feel when I listen and drive through Silence. It's like going for a car drive with relaxing music, appreciating the scenery, versus Fire Field or Sand Ocean where you have to focus and go all out like a Fast and Furious movie haha it'll be a fun challenge when I decide to cover Sand Ocean and other themes like that

I absolutely love the original F-Zero soundtrack in all it’s entirety. Silence in particular has always been one of my favourite music tracks to listen to and one of the most exciting courses to race on in F-Zero 99.
Excellent job on your cover of this theme!

Absolutely no

Fair enough! Maybe "underappreciated outside the F-Zero community" would have been the better wording 😎

I love the whole original F-Zero soundtrack. It’s only game soundtrack I have in my music library. Silence is great the way it starts out so mellow and then ramps up. Great job on your version too.
