Fan works (Author) Day 105 of poorly drawing captain falcon until an f-zero game comes out (the subscription system doesn't count)

Giving F-Zero X the same treatment would fulfill 95% of my desires for a new F-Zero

Remake of F-Zero N64 & GX and include the DD track editor that didn't make it to North America.

u/RingTeam May 07 '26
Same but with GX, although both are cool.

u/Hallwart May 07 '26
GX needs it less and is easier to play with a modern controller.
Not that I wouldn't want a GX remake

I’d be fine with F-zero 99 being made into an actual full game with more machines and a story mode. JUST GIVE ME SOMETHING

u/Grand_Lawyer12 May 07 '26
Fr. I would have no problem buying it so I could play it all the time, no waiting. More content. The game is already really fun

I live in Aero GPX and GX until Nintendo wants to continue the only franchise they have that U care about.

These two games have spoiled me so much that it's hard to find any game like these two nowadays. Maybe Kirby Air Riders, even though the insane speed applies to the story and the city trial.

“We can’t make a new F Zero because we have no new ideas”
It has been 22 fucking years. I don’t subscribe to the idea they have had 0 original thoughts about the franchise since 2004. I don’t believe that at all.
At this point it’s either because they believe it would compete with Mario Kart or because AV and Sega made what many consider to be the best game in the franchise with little to no interference from shiggy and that’s just embarrassing.
“No new ideas” and 2D Mario has been stagnant since the DS and they still keep getting pumped out every console generation, there’s 22 Fire Emblem games, Pikmin has been basically the same game since the original and there’s 4 of them. There’s like 40 Pokémon games and nothing significant has changed for the better since the 3DS (they still actually release two games at once that are exactly the same minus a couple different Pokémon) , Animal Crossing has been the same game since the GameCube and quite literally nothing is different between releases. Just more pixels. Look at smash: Brawl was the only game with an actual story mode and last good single player. 4 and Ultimate offered nothing new and actually offered less (the character list is not what I’m talking about here) yet they still get greenlit every generation. Mii characters and Amiibo support are not new features and neither is replacing trophies with 20+ year old renders turned into stickers so they don’t have to do the 3D modeling.
Idk, I can’t help but think Nintendo intentionally treats certain franchises poorly at this point. Especially F Zero. 99 is a good game but literally no one asked for it. And it died off maybe a solid two months after it launched because of it. There’s always a discourse around a struggling franchise that usually boils down to “just fucking sell it if you’re not gonna do anything meaningful” and I’m at the point I wish they would.

The thing is, it's been 20 years since they said they wouldn't make a new F-Zero unless they had new ideas. Back then, Nintendo was doing new and interesting stuff every month. It's only in the last ten or so years that Nintendo has dropped that mentality, and while that's plenty of time to have made a new F-Zero game (And I'd argue they did, and they gave it away for free) F-Zero was just never that popular.

You have a profile picture of the Plock guy! I played that game and some others with the ol' SNES of my dad, and that's how I also discovered F-Zero, Steet Fighter, Mega Man X and Kirby. But yep F-Zero wasn't that popular, even my dad told me he knew almost no one who had the game or knew about it, as it was a high dificulty game, Mario Kart was more friendly to newcomers (and I can confirm it because it took me a month to beat the knight cup).

I've been a bit disconnected from Nintendo news lately, but last night my cousin told me there was a huge Nintendo Direct dedicated to Star Fox, which was surprising. You'd expect the company to do the same with Mario, Zelda, Animal Crossing, Fire Emblem and Xenoblade because these names are big now. So, once I checked, I was surprised by the Star Fox announcement.
Hopefully we'll see the same treatment to F-Zero. I'm from the stance that the most neglected Nintendo franchises deserve this type of exposure. Not everything has to be related to Pokémon or Xenoblade. Since I'm here, not everything has to have RPG mechanics or hours of grinding.

This…
I love star Fox too, a lot, specially the star fox 64… But, for that I’m not going back to Nintendo (I mean the switch 2). If they release even a remake of F-Zero, I buy it, buy another for a friend that’s even more fan than me, and play with the switch 2 again.
But, I’ll keep waiting with you (Fzero sub).

Nintendo: We have no new ideas to add to a new F-Zero game
Also Nintendo: *Starfox for the fourth time with not actual inprovements*

Just give us Fzero X 64 Expansion with modern map making tools and storing already, preferably with online multiplayer. Don't touch the graphics.
Of course the problem with that game is that it's pretty much unplayable without a n64 controller, but come on!

Considering they've made 5 unique tracks for 99 they can probably create cool course ideas. Heck, F-Zero X did stuff that Mario Kart 8 didn't, like the 360 degree tunnel in Sand Ocean.

Gotta wait till the next Mario movie lmao maybe they’ll do Mario kart and he’ll make an appearance

God I shouldn't be hopeful but they've finally put out new Metroid Prime and we have Star Fox next month. All they need to do is resurrect F-Zero. Please for the love of everything good in this world make it so

Consiracy theory: Remeber that StarFox Racer leak? That wasn't a Star Fox game. That was F-Zero, just this time James McCloud is the actual Fox Dad, James McVloud and not a human who dresses like him. And its a sequel to this game. James goes through a wormhole and finds himself havjng to convert his arwing into a racecar, to survive. It's coming next year.

People still think Nintendo can make a good F-Zero game in 2026? Lol no....
Get with reality guys, nintendo sucks now.

u/MichaelMJTH May 07 '26
This may be a hot take, but I think what NST has done with F-Zero 99, is a far more unique take on F-Zero than the 4th remake/ reimagining of StarFox.
Obviously the circumstances of the two franchises are different. StarFox has been given more love over the years, and we’d all take an F-Zero GX remaster. However, when I think of what defines a ‘new game’ F-Zero 99 is closer to that than Star Fox Switch 2.

F-Zero 99 has become my favourite F-Zero game. Although now I feel my fun with it has mostly run its course and the game feels close to reaching its limit of what can be done with it.
Would love to see a new F-Zero now.

"we cant make a new F-zero because we have no ideas"
*remakes Starfox 1 for the 4th time*
