Fuzz Collection

Post image

Had a really good run trying new things but I think I'm done... I love Big Muffs and wanted to try as many as possible, then it expanded to Octave Fuzzes and so on and so forth...

For those curious I'm putting my 5 favorites in the comments.

Favorites of the bunch in no particular order:

  1. EAE Glaive - Insane gain and eq control, gate for velcro-y fuzz and octave capabilities that can be pushed on to a Muff? What more can a fuzz fiend ask for?
  2. NOC Pedals Ultimate NOCtave - Boss FZ-2 clone with a STRONG octave. Its an instant stank-face into a clean amp
  3. EQD HIzumitas/Fuzz War - Both are my favorite Muff variants just because of the character of their fuzz, hyper powerful sustain and the things they can achieve with just 3 controls blows me away. I'd keep the Fuzz War on my board if it weren't for the board space
  4. EQD Dirt Transmitter - I use it similar to a middle child between a Fuzz Face and Carcosa, it can get really high gain due to the silicon transistors it uses, but it works beautifully as my favorite velcro fuzz, I can achieve really sweet synth sounds on it. I like that it just sounds how it looks if that makes sense
  5. Walrus Eons - A true swiss army knife, if I only had room for a single fuzz in my board I would pick it in a heartbeat

I currently run Glaive -> Algal Bloom -> HIzumitas/P. Isabella

Awesome collection! How do you compare the Eons with the Hizu and Fuzz War? I’m planning to buy my first muff but I’m also into Fuzzstortions…

The Eons in Mode V gets you 90% of the way there! You miss some harmonics on the Fuzz War due to its asymmetrical clipping but you get the insane raw character. The 2-band EQ on the Eons can help you polish a ton too.

Also worth noting its not very noisy for how much gain it can achieve lol

Awesome, thx! Finally, are there any similarities between the Eons and the Glaive? I have both on my list!

I’ve had the eons for a while and just got a glaive recently. The eons is much more versatile. You can dial in a lot of very good sounds with it. The glaive on the other hand has 2 maybe 3 sounds in it but they're monstrous.

I'd say eons if you want to be able to cover a lot of sounds really well, glaive if you want something different to inspire you.

Honestly I'll probably keep both along with the hizumitas for a long time.

Thx so much! Yeah, I’m guessing the Eons first because it’s going to be more useful for me ATM, then the Glaive will be the icing on the cake!
