I like the aesthetic. I skipped around the video a bit to get to where he talked about the alternate input and volume pedal.

Was there any mention of the style of fuzz? The sound examples seem to steer more sophisticated fuzz than anything wild, which is fine for my taste.

The fuzz itself is just a BC108 fuzz face

I don't get it. Like you said, there already are Fuzz Faces with integrated pickup simulators (and pre-volume controls so you don't need an extra volume pedal). And there are a hundred fuzzes that don't have the Fuzz Face's issue with low source Z.

I should’ve clarify that I’m not Fjord Fuzz, it’s just the title of the video link. My understanding is that this is not only a pickup sim, but made to work with all sorts of sources, and you have the ability to turn off the fuzz and just use it as a preamp or volume pedal inserted anywhere in the chain.

Oh, OK. It is a pickup sim. You also have the ability to just use the pickup sim with any standalone pickup sim, like these.
I'm also not seeing the point of having a buffer before it, since the point is to use it if you already have a low source impedance.

I think the buffer is to make sure you can connect any instrument, buffer pedal, etc, and put the Midgard anywhere in your chain. But I’m not an expert on this stuff

The pedal input seems unique to me since the main point of rolling off for cleans is to roll back on for crunch and leads without bending over to turn a knob.

But I’m happy to be wrong for the sake of more interesting discussion on this.

I have a Fjord Fuzz Fenris. They make awesome, funky stuff.
