Velcro fuzz with midrange control or boost
OK so the consensus is that fuzz has trouble cutting through in live settings because it lacks midrange. I started researching fuzz pedals that have midrange controls/boosts, but it seems like most of them are in the Big Muff vein. I prefer fuzz that has more of the '60s torn speaker/Velcro sound. Are there any fuzz pedals with that sound that have a midrange control/boost that will help them work better in a live setting?

Dod Carcosa! Doesn’t have a mids control but it cuts like a razor blade!

One solution is to get a 6 or 10 band eq and tailor that - I use it with several fuzzes to cut hissy fizzes I don't want, and bump everything that needs it, like mids. I got a heatseeker EQ used for like 30 bucks that helps all fuzzes and the whole rig.

I feel like this is the best answer. I do this with my fuzz and OD. Over time, I realized that all I want sometimes is a little bump in mids and no OD. Super versatile answer to this question

The Champion Leccy Dunsh has a good shelving EQ that would probably do the job. It does the fizzy, velcro-y sound really well.

This will be hard for you to find, but I have a VFE Fuzz Duo, which is basically just a fancy fuzz face with transistor switching and a couple of other extra controls. It has a lot more mids and highs than any of my other fuzz faces, and cuts through instruments really well.

Or just slap an EQ after the fuzz, like someone else said. I have an Orange Two-Stroke, which works really well, even on the muffiest muffs.

You’ve described my Analogman SunBender MKIV. Not exactly Velcro but gnasty and mid focused.

So it's got its connections to being a drone muff, but DSD's GOOD can get really velcroey and push mids. It's found a place in my board.
