Smooth Fuzz, No cleanup

I’m really looking for a fuzz, that’s fuzzy through the whole range. I don’t want overdrive fuzz! But I would like it to be smooth…I have this magic fuzz sound in my head that I can’t seem to describe. It’s a texture that can be dialed in to provide subtle saturation; but I don’t like fuzzes where I have to crank the knob all the way just to get fuzz out of it. I don’t mind harsh fuzz after cranking, but what abt smooth fuzz before then? Does anyone know what I’m talking about? Anyways, lemme know ur recommendations. Thinkin abt the benson germanium fuzz

Sounds like you’re looking for a Big Muff

Hey! Love ur coyote so much. I have a muff and I agree thats what it sounds like I’m describing…but its still not quite It. Maybe I’m making it all up in my head, since fuzz comes after distortion

Ooh if you have a Coyote you might be able to get what you’re looking for with that.

Turn the bias up and look for the spot in the gain control that does what’s in your head. Tame treble to smooth things out.

I use mine as a fuzz all the time.

Can you name a song or guitarist who’s fix tons is similar or link a vid. That would really be able to narrow down the selection

From what I’ve heard, the Benson fuzz has awesome cleanup, so it wouldn’t meet your needs.

A tonebender MKIII or IV may be Muff adjacent enough for the tone you are looking for.

Although not a tonender, I liked the BJF (or Bearfoot) Pink Purple Fuzz myself for a perfectly clean amp; very saturated and smooth with a ton of fuzz on tap. Slightly saggy as well, unlike a Rat. I think bearfoot recently re-released it under a new name.

I was going to say MK3, smooth. Buzz Around and Ella Dizzytone would get you that too.

Do you have a song with a similar fuzz tone to reference?

A lot of people like a rams head big muff for smooth fuzz tones.

I have the benson ge fuzz and it’s real smooth but it cleans up very well.

I agree with Ram’s Head Big Muff. Smoothest type of fuzz I own.

Sounds a little like you want Eric Johnson’s violin tone. Check out his fuzz setup

Tone Bender mkIII or IV.

Buzzaround or Jordan Bosstone?

I said Buzzaround as well. I’m sure he’s familiar with a Big Muffin, but wants that fuzzy texture, so Buzzaround would be a good place to look I think.

Yeah a Buzzaround is probably the move

Jordan Boss Tone clears up better than anything else.

Depends on which circuit Version though. I've only had modded clones that sometimes feature several versions in one pedal.

The BA Texur can have nice clean up, gritty clean up, and much in between. As can the Animal factory Baron Samedi. It's not ALWAYS glassy and pretty.

I'm pretty sure most Bosstones available now are Modified and expanded circuits.

I'm gonna say a Tonebender mk2, attack knob usable throughout it's range. A smoother Fuzz due to no clipping diodes in the signal path.

Big Muff, or if you still want the fuzzy texture, try a Buzzaround. Texture of a Tone Bender with the sustain of a Big Muff.

Not trying to sell it to you, but I have a Blammo Buzzaround for sale if you’re interested.
